Weekends are for fun! Two coats of shellac and light sanding done. Hoping to get these pieces finished up this weekend.

Making some changes! Seeing that I regularly rope my husband into helping me, we've decided to make a change to my little side business, and make it officially "ours"! Here are some in progress items that we've been working on lately, we'll update when they are finished!

It's small business Saturday folks! While I do my fair share of Amazon buying, I do what I can to support the local businesses too. Remember that when you shop small, you're paying for someone's dance class, putting into a kiddos college fund, or helping to pay for that new tool for someone's home workshop!
Wish I could show you all the finished product, but this is the busy time for custom orders, and I don't want to ruin anyone's gift!

If you didn't snag one of my fun wooden cake knives at my last craft fair, fear not! This rather dangerous looking contraption means more will be available next weekend! This batch: black walnut blades with cherry handles! (I have a few with maple handles as well)

Handmade wooden knife with black walnut blade and maple handle! There was a small knot in this blade, now filled with black resin! Just look at the wood grain in the maple! Nature is beautiful!

Please excuse my sawdust! Starting to shape up these knives! Black walnut blades, maple handle on top, cedar on the bottom.
Thinking about maybe trying one with a lighter colored wood blade, and personalizing with a name/date as a wedding cake knife, what do you think?

Who doesn't like a fun talking piece in the kitchen? Hardwood knives for cutting cake (or as my mother gets excited about -lettuce) are unique and fun to show off! Handles are being glued on, then it's time for sanding and shaping!

These fun flags will get a finishing, and then will have the hardware added to become bottle openers!

Awful picture, sorry, but the difference between before and after finishing is stunning! The serving tray on the right and the wooden knife have been finished with an oil and beeswax so that they're food safe and ready to go! The tray on the left will be finished as well.
