🌟🔥 Huge shoutout CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit and all the assisting fire departments for their tireless efforts in containing the fire near SB SR 17 and Glenwood Dr.!

Thanks to their prompt response and hard work, the fire has been successfully contained, ensuring the safety of residents and travelers alike. The right lane of HWY 17 was affected for a few hours, but we appreciate the understanding and patience of everyone on the road during this time.

According to CAL FIRE CZU, firefighters are responding to a fire near Highway 17 and Summit Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The fire is visible from the Alert California Silver Mountain camera and also KION's Mount Toro Camera. KION is working to gather more information.

With ongoing construction efforts on Highway 1 and elsewhere throughout the County, the City of Capitola has recently heard numerous concerns from residents regarding the impact of increased vehicle traffic through our neighborhoods, specifically the Cliffwood Heights area including Park Avenue, Monterey Avenue, and Kennedy Drive.

Capitola PD has increased directed enforcement of these areas during ‘rush hour’ traffic, including the deployment of our reserve officers and motor officers. All traffic laws must be followed and officers are issuing citations for violations. Please remember, road rage incidents are avoidable! Let’s work together to keep our streets safe Capitola!
