Discover Akaka Falls: A must-see Big Island gem! 🌿 It's a beautiful, scenic drive from Captain Cook to Akaka Falls State Park. Here’s what you need to know for your visit:
🚗 Distance: About 1.5 hours drive from Captain Cook.
✅ Open: Daily from 8:30 am to 5 pm
🥾Hike Details: Enjoy a manageable 0.4-mile loop trail through a vibrant rainforest, leading you right to two waterfalls: the majestic Akaka Falls, which plunges 442 feet into a gorge, and the cascading Kahuna Falls.
🅿️ Parking: Available onsite, $10 for non-residents (credit card only)
🎟️ Cost: Entry is $5 per person for non-residents (credit card only)
⛰️Best Time to Visit: Beat the crowds by arriving early, especially before 11 AM.

For our history explorers - we’re just a short walk from the ancient Hikiau Heiau ruins at Napo’opo’o Beach in Kealakekua Bay.

Built by King Kalani'opu'u, the temple was dedicated to Lono, the Hawaiian god of agriculture and prosperity. 🌾🌊 The original structure was massive, measuring over 250 feet long and 100 feet wide! While you can’t walk on it today, it’s still a remarkable site to see.
