This year, the SCCF nighttime sea turtle team is naming newly encountered sea turtles after female musicians. We’re wishing success to Dolly, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, and their offspring! 🐢

Our biologists have encountered 86 unique sea turtles so far this season as of May 30 (including 44 return nesters!) — an increase from this time last year. Our nighttime tagging project allows us to track individual turtles’ nesting patterns and movements over time, which helps inform research and conservation.
