Been a long 18 months since Hurricane IAN when the siding was damaged (and notice the stake that was embedded into the corner of the house).

New siding was done between April and July last year. Of course, it was then the only yellow color approved by SHC!

And painting of the exterior was finished on Friday.

Not as far along at the other house (still needs exterior painting … in 2 weeks … and the neighbor needs to finish their pool and get the heavy equipment out … it has to go through our yard).

But WAY more mulch was thrown last week. So the front and side yards are looking pretty good.

North Captiva Island has great opportunities for watching the stars and meteor showers with our focus on "Dark Sky" and the lack of urban light pollution of the cities on the mainland.

There are lots of opportunities in 2022 for night-time viewing.

Find a dark place. Lay back, look up and see what the cosmos has to offer.

Well this is something to look forward to!

Maybe this explains the high prices that the pricing software is recommending for next year? I wonder if the prices might go even higher for guests that delay finalising their bookings at the end of the year or early next year.

The 2022 edition of "The Old Farmer's Almanac" is predicting a winter so cold they're calling it a "season of shivers."

For renters that haven't looked at prices last year and this year, all prices have surged pretty much everywhere, including North Captiva Island based on demand. Most owners on the island have had very busy seasons this year .. and fall and winter is already started booking.

Popular summer vacation rentals are pricier and harder to book. After a dip in 2020, rates and demand are back to 2019 levels, if not higher.
