ed by an average of 295 days of sunshine, low humidity, cold but mild winters and comfortable summers. There is plenty to do including hiking, biking, golfing, kayaking, and world-class fly fishing. In winter, experience excellent cross-country skiing. The Carbondale area offers a variety of comfortable lodging options, great casual and exquisite fine dining, creative arts and entertainment, and intriguing historical areas. Join us for Potato Days in Carbondale! 🥔 The Carbondale Annual Potato Day theme for 2024 is “Mr. McClure Goes to Hollywood”- Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Movie "Red Stallion of the Rockies" which was filmed in the Roaring Fork Valley. Join us for the Carbondale Community Project coming up on Saturday, September 28th at Coffman Ranch!

⁠Coffman Ranch features 141 acres of productive ranch land, native wildlife habitat, and more than a century of deep agricultural roots. Help create a welcoming place for our community and build deep connections with land, wildlife, and water. 🌲

This will also be the LAST Little Explorers program of the season, where students 4-8 engage in structured nature activities led by a RFOV educator while guardians participate in the community project. 🌱 Space is limited and if registration is full, please sign your student up on the waitlist.

Step back in time! 🕰️ The Redstone Coke Ovens offer a glimpse into Colorado's rich mining history. Located just 18 miles south of Carbondale, these historic ovens were once a crucial part of the region's economy.

In the early 20th century, Redstone boasted one of the largest coke oven complexes in Colorado, producing over 11,000 tons of carbonized coke per month. This high-grade coke fueled the giant blast furnaces used in steel production.

Today, many of the ovens remain preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. Explore the ruins and imagine the bustling activity that once filled this historic site.
