Not only did Jake get an A, he discovered a passion for sharing his knowledge about bees -- this is what inspired him to found the Carmel Honey Company. HONEY HURRICANE! Have you ever wondered how we get the honey out of the comb? One of the many ways that we can collect honey is by using a centrifuge! This collects the honey while leaving the bees with perfectly intact comb they don't have to rebuild. Comb that is capped with wax will have the caps removed with a sharp knife, but then the centrifugal force (think like those scary fair rides!) flings the honey out of the honeycomb without damaging the comb or the frame! This gives the bees plenty of space for a new honey and baby bees! A Sweet Family Business

Starting as a 5th grade homework assignment the company has grown into a “sweet” family business. Providing pure, raw, premium honey products, straight from the hive, is what CHC is known for. Driven to educate others about real honey, Jake opened the Carmel Honey Company retail store in Carmel By-the-Sea. Through his “Jake Gives Back” campaign he not only makes an annual financial donation to a honey or bee research organization but he also regularly visits schools and community groups advocating positive decisions concerning pollination, bee health and habitat. Wherever we travel, Jake seeks out beekeepers and honey. Learning how bees are a part of local customs and culture is a fun reason to taste some amazing honeys. We’ll share our honey and what we’ve learned about bees so we can bee known for "Bringing You The Best Honey In The World!
