The Prodigal Carpenter.....Artisan Woodworking

Artisan wood creations and select home decor are our specialty. What began as an interest in trying my hand at an “end grain” cutting board evolved into a love for creating intricately patterned cutting boards, cheese boards and other items. The grain and color of various hardwoods was fascinating. Eventually, the procurement of an inexpensive lathe

led to the discovery of a passion for woodturning.........and a line of finely crafted pepper and salt grinders . A few months in and it was time to graduate to acquiring a better lathe:). Over time a simple home shop in Northwest Georgia has grown in size and equipment (various saws, drill press, lathe, drum sander, jointer, dust collection system, etc :) to accommodate the ever growing product line, each item hand produced, finished and signed by The Prodigal Carpenter himself. At the heart of what we do is a love for seeing things transformed..........a piece of raw wood into a thing of beauty or an individual life from meaninglessness to divine purpose..... there’s joy in the process and reward in the result.

These 2 little wrens have shown up each night for over a week to roost in the corners of our porch. They hide their faces and tuck into the corner as if “I can’t see you, so you can’t see me”🤔

We spent 9 days in beautiful St Augustine Florida & got rained on every day ☔️. Yet we still enjoyed our time of rest, reading, writing and most of all, being together. This photo is evidence that blue sky’s still exist & that nothing can steal your joy when you’re the Lord’s.

Our very cool “shop dog” Micah passed away this morning….sadly. He died in his sleep while being well cared for at our Vet while we were away. Dr Kevin McElwee and his staff cared for Micah for years, and we cannot thank them enough.
Although we knew this day was approaching, we had 14.5 years of enjoyment, companionship and entertainment from our dog.
This photo was from several years ago when Micah was strong and healthy, but all of us are here but for a limited time & we thank the Lord for giving us a cool dog who will be missed.
