Well my friends, high season has officially started in the Mexican Caribbean.

I flew into Cancun last night to the longest immigration line I have ever seen. I went through the Mexican national line as I am a resident, so I don't know how long the normal line took but I would say over an hour. It was moving steadily, but there was just a large number of people.

I am a carry-on only person typically, but after too much shopping in Canada, we ended up with a checked bag. Luckily we only had to wait for 1, but it took 1 hour and 35 minutes for that bag to come out.

Of course, our transfer vehicle then took around 10 minutes to come as they were parked outside as we came out 2 hours after our flight landed.

All that being said, I have some tips to share that you can share with clients, at your own discretion/when appropriate.

Pack your patience. You will likely need a lot of if, but if not, it’s free and easy to pack. It doesn’t take up much space, but can make the difference between an easy or rough start to your vacation

Try to get seats in the front of the plane, and when you get off the plane, especially if it’s a big one-hustle!

Once you get off the plane, if needed, visit the first washroom that you see

Bring snacks and a water bottle. This will be helpful during a lengthy wait for checked baggage.

Expect to get baggage searched. They are searching more people than ever.

If you can, only bring a carry-on. It will save time, money and lots of frustration.

Expect delays. With weather and the sheer number of planes flying in and out this time of the year, they are inevitable.
