Julie's leadership skills, hard work, and dedication have helped to form the committee to be passionate about making a difference in our community.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and former watermelon festival organizer Larry Morris this morning. Larry was Chamber of Commerece president and festival organizer in the 1990s. We are grateful for his leadership, guidance, friendship, and support over the years. Larry, you will be greatly missed. Please keep the Morris family in your prayers in the days ahead.

A big THANK YOU to Precise and JD Smart! They were on call all 3 days of the festival to come to the park on a moments notice to make any needed electrical repairs. As hard as we try to have things ready, you just don't know until all the vendors get there and get everything plugged in. We had some issues. Precise came multiple times. This morning we received our bill for the weekend. Nearly $1000. BUT, Precise very generously donated their time and materials, and our balance was ZERO! Thank you Precise and JD Smart we appreciate all your support!

We want to give a very special thank you to Cave City Police Chief Brian Barnett for all his hard work and support for the past several years. Chief Barnett will be taking a new position with the city soon and will no longer be our police chief. We may have butted heads a few times, but there was never any doubt Chief Barnett always had the best interest of the community at heart and was never worried about making the hard decisions and helping us make them too. Brian and the entire police department put in so many hours to make the festival a success. We thank you, we appreciate you and we wish the very best in this next chapter of life!

What an incredible 3 days! We want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate the "World's Sweetest Watermelons!" A special thank you to our sponsors. Their generosity is the only way we can put on such a great event. Please shop with them every chance you have.

We have so many people to thank for making this years festival a success. Thank you to the Cave City Police and Fire Departments, the Sharp County Sheriffs Department, and the Independence County Sheriffs Department for your presence and for everything you all did to keep us safe! Thank you to Mayor Jonas Anderson, Aaron Hunter and all the city employees for all the extra hours you spent getting ready for the festival. Thank you to the Cave City 4-H kiddos for cleaning up every night! Thank you to the countless seen and unseen volunteers who always go above and beyond for this community. Thank you Cave City School Superintendent Steven Green for the use of the buses so we could get people to the park. Thank you to Head Football Coach Danny Brustrum and your assistant coaches, parents and players for parking assistance, shuttling before the rains came and then breaking out the big buses! Thank you Cave City Pharmacy for shuttling people all 3 days to and from the park. Thank you Travis Tate for being our MC and auctioneer, you are the very best!

It was great to host cyclist from across the state for the first ever "Melon Grind". This bicycle ride departed the Cave City park Saturday morning. The participants traveled 13 miles down the gravel roads that we use to transport our precious melons. What a great addition to Festival. 🛑All parking at and around the park is CLOSED! You must park at the high school and catch the shuttle.

🛑🛑The rain has made parking in the fields hazardous, so there will be no parking there. We will be shuttling people to and from the park beginning after the parade. Please park at the high school to catch the shuttle. Pick up point is in front of the high school. Handicapped persons should be dropped off at the park and vehicles left at the high school.

This is the 2024 Youth Prize Melon Winner! This “survivor” melon was entered by Jace Patterson of Patterson Brothers Farms in honor of his new nephew Jon Beckett Patterson. The prize melon survived being pawed by a deer. Jon Beckett survived some difficulties he had at birth. Jon Beckett is the son of Jaret and Taryn Patterson. The family gives all thanks to God for JB’s positive outcome and good health. Thanks Uncle Jace and Papaw Jon for entering your survivor melon and sharing Jon Beckett’s story! ❤️
