HAPPY VALENTINE'S

A few years ago, a guest (let's call him Jack) contacts me with a question.

Jack says he wants to visit the Dreamery with his girlfriend. He plans to propose marriage, and could I set up the cottage with champagne and flowers.

"Of course," I said.

Turned out she said "YES" ...

The first day of Autumn is always cause for celebration ... and a poem:

WE'RE OPEN FOR R&R

After 3 months of COVID-19 shutdown, Sonoma County is again open for vacation visitors.

As always, we want our guests to be happier when they leave than when they arrived.

Among the CDC-recommended cleaning protocols we’ve put in place to ensure the safety of guests and staff, we’ve also programmed at least 24-hours between bookings to allow extra time to thoroughly sanitize the cottage.

If you've been suffering from NDD (Nature Deficiency Disorder) Sequoia Beach Dreamery is delighted to again be offering a cure.

A DREAMY GETAWAY

As Sonoma County begins to re-open, we eagerly await the day when Sequoia Beach Dreamery will again welcome urban-weary guests — old and new patrons who want to relax and enjoy the peaceful natural setting of the creek and majestic sequoias.

Currently, as part of a phased re-opening, the county’s Shelter in Place order has been extended “until further notice.” While the timetable is uncertain, the lack of a specific end date means restrictions on vacation rentals could be lifted any day.

As such, we are now accepting reservations, with the understanding that we may not be able to fulfill a booking until vacation rental restrictions have been relaxed.

More specifically, if we cannot honor a booking due to county orders, guests will have the option to:

• Receive a credit for the full value of the original booking , along with flexible stay dates within the next year.

• Or, cancel the booking and get a 100% refund, up to 14 days prior to your arrival date. If a booking must be cancelled within 14 days of your arrival, any non-refundable amount can be used as a credit toward a future stay.

No one really knows how the re-opening will evolve. If traveling abroad is out of the question, Sonoma County may help fill the pent-up demand for a relaxing getaway. Road trips could make a comeback, along with a significant increase in vacationers from other Bay Area counties.

In any case, you can now make a reservation with complete confidence thanks to our flexible policies, as well as CDC-recommended cleaning protocols to ensure your health and safety while you are at the Dreamery.

A POEM for TROUBLED TIMES

LOCKDOWN

Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.
Yes there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet The sky is no longer thick with fumes But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number through the neighbourhood So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples are preparing to welcome and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way All over the world people are waking up to a new reality To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic The birds are singing again The sky is clearing, Spring is coming, And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing.

WOW ... that was quite a storm!

All is well at the Dreamery. Thank you to all who checked in to ask.

The power was down for a couple of days … not unusual during a major storm. The creek water got up to the top step on the stairs leading down to the creek bed, but the house itself stayed high and dry.

Amazing how much water that beautiful, wide creek bed can carry. It was roaring through there this week!

Being at the Dreamery during such a storm is one of my favorite times to be there, witnessing first hand the power and majesty of nature.

Feeling blessed and grateful that the Dreamery is in such a wonderful spot overlooking it all.

50th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

"We loved the serene setting and location for a girls' getaway to celebrate our 50th birthdays. If you want to be close to "civilization" this is not the best place for you. But if you want a place that is quiet, peaceful with a magnificent host, then you will love the Dreamery.

The owner was beyond accommodating, he even built a fire for our first chilly morning. We liked the fact that it was so close to the coast and within an hour's drive of Healdsburg (definitely go there). We took different routes every time to see the countryside, which was lovely.

I think this cottage would also be fab in the summer. Very close to a general store and within 15-20 minutes of a full-size grocery and excellent restaurants.

We even had an otter in the creek one of the mornings.

Very easy to work with. Wish we were there right now!"
