Calling anyone interested in furthering their AI knowledge and exploring the beautiful country of France; this is the program for you! On this program you will gain international experience and data analytics competence: which today's employers consider both essential to a college degree. Create business intelligence through application and visualization and learn from automated analysis of text and networks! This is a lot of hands on learning that will add an ✨EDGE✨ to your resume!

Join us in congratulating junior, Emijah Jones, on being selected as a Gilman Scholarship recipient!

This is a prestigious scholarship that is awarded on a nation-wide basis. Emijah was one of thousands of other applicants around the United States. The scholarship will go towards her study abroad expenses as she prepares for life abroad in Oviedo, Spain this spring! Again, congratulations Emijah, way to go on this outstanding achievement! The UNI Study Abroad Center is so proud of your hard work and dedication! 🍎✏️

✨STAFF SPOTLIGHT✨

Our fourth and final full-time staff spotlight is our Assistant Director of the UNI Study Abroad Center: Charity Eckhardt! Charity studied abroad in Germany for an academic year and loves her job because of the amazing people she gets to work with everyday!

Some of her hobbies include: spending time with family as my husband and I stay busy with my two boys and two dogs at home. Her bucket list travel destination is every place she has not yet been!

"There are endless reasons for participating in study abroad. The factors can be different for every person. In addition to fulfilling academic credits, you can cross off a bucket list item, push yourself outside of your comfort zone, explore the world with friends, etc. At a basic level, I think that everyone needs to see the world beyond their own personal borders, whether that be their home town, state, or country. Go out and explore what is beyond your frame of reference. Meet new people, experience new ways of living, learn about what makes other people happy -- at the end of the day, I think that traveling is about getting to know yourself and the rest of humanity better."

✨STAFF SPOTLIGHT✨

Our third staff spotlight is one of our full-time study abroad advisors: Stephanie Wallen! Steph studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain and also taught abroad in Haiti! Her favorite part about her job is helping students realize that they can study abroad, if they didn't think it was possible for them before. From the start of the process to the end I really enjoy watching the growth and development of each student as they learn not only about the culture they are immersed in, but also about themselves.

Some of her hobbies include: attending live music and supporting local events around Cedar Falls, spending time with friends and family, and cooking new recipes! Her bucket list travel destinations are Egypt, Florence, Maldives, and Morocco.

"UNI students should take advantage of the study abroad experience here at UNI because it allows them to gain cultural competency, create a global network of people for future career advancement and provides an opportunity for self discovery. Students can build lifelong memories and gain friendships that would not be possible without this opportunity. Traveling has taught me so much about myself and allowed me to show up in spaces throughout my life that I would not have been prepared for without my study abroad experiences."

PASSPORT DAY HAPPENING SOON!

The UNI Study Abroad Center will be hosting their annual Passport Day on Wednesday, November 20th from 11 AM to 3 PM in 103 East Bartlett. We will be partnering with Black Hawk County Recorders Office during this event for on-site passport applications and FREE passport photos taken by our staff.
