Winston made lots of friends this summer in Fernandina Beach, but now we are getting ready to begin our trek south to prepare for a winter in the Bahamas!

Thank you to our friends at Hot Paws for loving on our big pups while we knock out numerous boat projects. We hope to visit again.

We are going LIVE on YouTube this evening, around 11:30pm ET, from SV Plot Twist in Fernandina Beach.

We are staying on the boat, at the dock, in Fernandina Beach for the duration of this storm. We are expecting it to be a fast moving storm and all the excitement should be over by morning. The wind is expected to come over the land, which means we will have little fetch from where we are located. The strongest of the storm will come through around low tide, so concern about storm surge is minimal.

Our biggest concern is our rigging, which holds up our mast. Our recent rigging inspection found the standing rigging to be incredibly loose, about 1/2 to 1/3 of the recommended tension and the turn buckles are stuck when we attempted to tighten them down. Fingers-crossed that our mast stays up through the night!

Join us as we take you through the boat while also sharing what it's like to live aboard - along with all the things we love and hate. This is a great catamaran and it fits our needs perfectly.

To be honest, we were always monohull sailors and never considered a catamaran until we started wanting to fast track our plan to get out on the water. The catamaran offers benefits that make liveaboard life realistic for Winston, so in essence, we bought Winston a catamaran. (lol, we got a cat for our giant dog!)

CONFESSION: Our saildrive has been leaking since NOVEMBER 2023 and we've been nursing it along while we were in the Bahamas. 😬 So we made our way to the boat yard for a much needed haul-out to get the saildrive serviced. Even though the repair was stupid expensive, we actually lucked out, the mechanics were very surprised we made it so long without having bigger problems, catastrophic problems. Beginners luck? Blessed by the wind and sea gods? Who knows!? but we'll take it.

Well, we certainly get to find out if the truth is worth the hype!
