You feel free from the world, you feel unstoppable, riding is a passion, it’s a joy, it’s a stress reliever, it’s a way of life. ” -Anonymous

HELLO, MICHIGAN! It's been a minute! 😁 We stopped in Houghton to eat pizza and drink fish bowls at the Ambassador, had some blueberry beer at the DT, and pickled eggs at the B&B. All a must do while there! Then we crushed some miles to Fisherman's Point to get some fishing in and visit with some pretty excited family! I think they may have missed us! 😉

Driving across the plains was long and soooo hot! The temps were in the 90s, so stopping for survival ice cream to cool down was a must! 😜 The flat farmland was never ending but pretty in it's own way!

Our last border crossing and a final, "see you later" to Canada as we crush some miles, headed for home, but not before we hit a couple more highlights. Glacier National Park is just as amazing as we remember it. The wildfire smoke did hinder some of the views, but it's still stunning nonetheless!

Yesterday we parted ways with our friends from Calgary. They headed for home while we hung out one more night in Grande Prairie waiting on two new tires to be shipped to the local motorcycle shop. Today we replace the tires and officially start south towards home. 🙂

Liard River Hot Springs and Campground. What an incredible place! The setting was beautiful and the hot springs were just what we needed to recharge! The campground is surrounded by electric fence to keep the bears and other wildlife out and the visitors safe. We were lucky enough to secure a spot OUTSIDE the electric fence in the overflow camping with fellow campers who decided that cooking bacon at 10 o'clock at night was a good idea! 🤨😡 Needless to say we (meaning Kris) slept with one hand clutching the bear spray and the other holding the air horn. 😁

Tire issues seem to be the theme lately. A tire puncture in the middle of nowhere, no cell service and in bear country is a little stressful! So thankful for our friends Andrew and Wally who stopped to lend a hand! They were our life raft!

Our campsite view was pretty good! Apparently a big brown bear strolled through camp last night, but we slept through all the excitement! I did manage to capture a few pics of the ride yesterday before we were fogged in.

Our last couple of days we spent checking out Seward and Homer. Not much time was spent in Seward, but we did get to hike Exit Glacier. The never ending construction on the one road in was going to close for blasting, so we had to get out while we could. I gotta say, Homer is our 2nd favorite city in Alaska. So much going on down on "The Spit"! We all really enjoyed our time here!

With the weather refusing to cooperate yesterday, the views on the Denali Highway were obscured by storm clouds and fog making for some pretty dramatic views. We rode most of the day in 48° and rain. It was pretty chilly, but we still had smiles on our faces! We finished our ride in Talkeetna. We love this town! The people are so friendly! I want to give a shout out to Jody, who owns the Little Green House in Talkeetna. She hooked us up with a place to stay after a long day of riding in the cold and rain! If you ever find yourself in Talkeetna, look for the Little Green House on Airbnb.

We made it to Coldfoot Camp, AK last night. Six and a half hours of mud, ruts, construction, potholes, dust and semi trucks. There isn't much in this camp, but the beer is cold, the food is good, the beds are clean and showers are warm! However, they need to work on their gas prices, $7.499/gallon! 😲

We made it to Fairbanks, AK! The ride was windy and wet, but as always the scenery made up for it! We passed through the North Pole and of course we had to stop. Such a neat place! Would love to see it in the winter! We stayed at a hostel called Svens. What a neat place to stay! Warm showers, flushing toilets, a full kitchen, and a coffee shop! These types of hostels and campgrounds are convenient and are quickly becoming our favorite places to stay. This morning we are fueling up on Starbucks before tackling the Dalton. Locals say it's slippery, slimy, and full of potholes. Nothing we can't handle! 🤪

Yesterday we said, "Goodbye for now", to Canada. We took the ferry from Dawson City across to Top of the World Highway where we headed towards Alaska once again! What a great ride! The scenery on that mountain ridge is absolutely beautiful! It's a must do ride if you find yourself in the Yukon! We visited the famous, quaint little town of Chicken. A town that got its name because the locals back in the day couldn't spell Ptarmigan (the Alaska State Bird), so they simplified it! 😁 We camped out in a town called Tok, AK at Thompson's Eagle Claw Motorcycle Park. I highly recommend staying here! Vanessa is a great host who makes camping so easy and convenient! 💕 Today we are riding to Fairbanks, then turning straight north in search of the Arctic Ocean. Fingers crossed the weather holds!

The last couple of days the excitement has been building as we mentally prepared to travel the Dempster up to the Arctic Ocean. However, the wind was quickly knocked out of our sails due to weather not relenting and the ferry breaking down (until Monday). So we rode up the Dempster as far as the Arctic Circle and then turned back. Our goal of reaching the Arctic Ocean is still within reach. As the saying goes, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." To the Dalton Highway we go!

We made our way to Dawson City, Yukon today. And in this town there is a tradition at Sourdough Joe's of drinking a shot with a toe in it. Yes it's a real human toe! Preserved of course, but real nonetheless. The rule is, you can drink it fast, you can drink it slow, but your lips must touch the toe! Bottoms up!

We have officially made it to the Yukon! We stopped by Watson Lake to check out the world famous Sign Post Forest. It was crazy how many signs there were from all over the globe! Then we rode into Skagway, AK because, why not! The drive in was very foggy in spots, but still caught some incredible views. We spent a relaxing day, off the bike, being tourists. We are now in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada at a cute motorcycle only campground. We will be here for the next couple days catching up on work, restocking our food supply, doing laundry and waiting out the weather and a wildfire that is preventing us from pushing on. High winds, rain and a wildfire are making a mess of the Dempster, the gravel highway we have to travel to get to the Arctic Ocean. The current road conditions are to treacherous for us to risk it. So we wait...

Cranking out miles has been the name of the game for the past few days, with today being no different. The weather has been in the low 60s, with off and on rain (so thankful for heated gear). The scenery, per usual has been gorgeous. However, Friday's ride into Stewart, BC was exceptional! It was one glacier after another! From Stewart, we rode into Hyder, AK. Hyder is a destination for adventure bike riders so it was a must do for us! We rode up to Salmon Glacier to get pictures and fly the Drone. We ended up with one picture and no drone footage because a bear popped its head up out of the weeds. 😳 The bear are everywhere!

Today's ride took us through downtown Vancouver! Not ideal, but I guess this happens when you set the GPS to take you the adventurous route. 🤣 The upside was, we ended up on the Sea to Sky Highway which was an absolutely beautiful ride! We played tourist and rode the Sea to Sky Gondola to the top of the mountain and had lunch with a stunning view! Oh and they have city bears here! Like, you're stuck in traffic and they're right next to you bears! 😳

Border crossing went as expected. 😂 After the initial round of questions (apparently we failed), we got hauled in for further questioning (Jason's fault 😁). They separated us to asked more questions, which we must have passed, because they let us through! Whew! No stress, none at all! 🤣🤪
