Below is a photo of travelers stuck in traffic trying to get to the airport in Cancun. They had to give up and walk up to 4km with their luggage in the heat! It would be better to sit a long time at the airport than to have to walk the last few miles!!

These are all really good suggestions. It always comes as a shock to clients when I give them the choice of reserving their seat in advance but that is comes at a price. I have a family of four traveling to Europe this summer that just spent $800.00 in seat fees in addition to the cost of their airline tickets! But, if you are going to be in that seat for 10-14 hours it may not seem worth the cost sitting at home right now, but it will if you are stuck in a middle seat for that length of time!
