Angela Kitchen (pictured) and her husband Scott are the owners of Holistic Mercantile on the Centerville square. The business centers around supporting local products, goods, and services as a means of defending local customers from a National Supply Chain collapse.

She shared recently about dried Cayenne peppers from Windy Springs Farm which she shared with a customer who she suspects was having a heart attack. There is so much to learn from these new business owners in Centerville!

Visit Holistic Mercantile and David's Farm Market, two new amazing places to grocery shop for healthier food options and local staples.

An event that immerses you in our amazing natural features is right around the corner! Gravel Revival is an annual gathering of cyclists who appreciate the challenge of bike riding on gravel.

On October 18-20th, hundreds of cyclists will meet at Peaceful Hills Retreat for 3 days of gravel bike riding routes ranging from 8 to 100 miles. In its fifth year, participants will be introduced to a nearby Mennonite community, creek beds and waterfalls, and Grinders Switch Winery. There's also a 20K trail run this year if any local runners are interested!

To celebrate crossing the finish line, partake in live music, food trucks, and free beer.

This is one of the most special traditions we have in Centerville & Hickman County 💖

In downtown Centerville, TN, The Grinders Switch Hour, a live Saturday morning radio show, was established in 2004 by Ronnie Whitaker, Steve Turner, Mickey Bunn, and the host, Charlie Garner. While it started as a sort of “What’s happening in Hickman County” show, Charlie took it to a level that had not been imagined.

He brought in Grand Ole Opry members and musicians from across the region, lifting the radio show to great musical heights. After the station’s launch of an online stream that would take the show global, they now truly are “World Famous”.

Most of the current band has been involved with the show since its establishment, and many have credits that include hit country songs and world-wide tours!

Join them every Saturday morning at 10am CST coming to you live from Nashville’s Big Back Yard!

🗞️ Do you read our local newspaper?

Thanks to the efforts of editor and publisher of The Hickman County Times, Bradley Martin, our community enjoys hyper-localized news and insightful storytelling about the people who live here.

Bradley covers every major news event, sports competition, and local happening that occurs in our county of 25,000 people. He estimates he writes at least 50 articles a week, approximately 8 articles a day assuming he takes one day of rest!

Bradley was born and raised in Middleton, NJ, but he has called Centerville home for over 40 years. After cutting his teeth in the journalism field as a reporter for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Bradley followed his wife back home to Centerville.

Since 1983, the newspaper offices have been located just off of the Centerville Town Square. As you open the door to the old brick building, the smell of crisp paper and stale printer's ink will waft over you and you'll feel like you've just entered a sacred space. Bradley practices his craft in this building—leaving modern digital printing techniques behind for an adaptation of offset printing which typically uses plates to transfer ink to paper instead of electronic files. His unique process allows him to design the newspaper with his hands each week before he sends it off to the printer and into the mailboxes of Hickman County residents.

We are so grateful for Bradley's dedication to our community!
