The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that it will waive day use fees at more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of the USACE birthday, June 16, and Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19.

The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps at Rathbun Lake. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities (group picnic shelters) and events.

On Tuesday, June 4th, the US Army Corps of Engineers at Rathbun Lake hosted a signature ceremony for the new Rathbun Regional Water Association water storage contract followed by a partnership meeting.

Distinguished guests in attendance were: Mrs. Michele Beck (Regional Director for Senator Ernst), Colonel Rayfield (USACE Kansas City District Commander), Dr. David Pittman (Director USACE Engineering Research & Development Center, Vicksburg, MS.), Mr. Grant Menke (Deputy Secretary of Agriculture – Iowa), Dr. Scott Cagle (Asst. State Conservationist – USDA/NRCS), Mr. Pete Hildreth (Division Administrator – IDNR), Mr. Rod Glosser (CEO – RRWA), Mr. John Glenn (Pres. – Rathbun Land & Water Alliance), and many other staff representing USACE, NRCS, IDNR, IDALS, RLWA & RRWA organizations.
