Originally built in 1918 by a member of the Kohl family, this building has been a focal point of downtown Centralia ever since. The property features old world architecture with its solid brick structure, rich woodwork, and spectacular courtyard. Newly remodeled with a fresh look and an old world feel, it is a comfortable

place for friends and families to stay. Being centrally located, it is within a 5 minute drive of the new Castle Ridge Wedding and Conference Center, Raccoon Lake, Foundation Park, Fairview Plaza, and much more. It is a 30 minute drive from Carlyle Lake and 20 minutes from Lake Centralia. It is also within a 5-10 minute walking distance of the following downtown attractions:

Bedrooms are furnished with queen size beds and TV. The newly installed kitchen and island create a great place to eat and have drinks or play games with the kids. Currently there is no wheelchair accessibility but that will change in the future. Free Wi-Fi, Netflix, and local stations.

Well people, for those of you attending tomorrow, I think you’ll be pleased with the life that has been pumped back into the bar area. Over the course of the last 10-12 years it’s mostly been used for storage and construction debris. But with the hard work of a handful of people, she’s lit up like I’ve never seen before. Looking forward to tomorrow!

UPDATE: For the party tomorrow, parking is available in the parking lot to the north at parking lot between Copperfield and the First Christian Church. There is additional parking across the street at Irvin Macz funer home.

We have had some last minute cancellations and now have two weekends open for guests looking for a holiday getaway. Here are just a couple of the trees that we have up for people to enjoy. If we had a dollar for every time someone said they had the best memories at the House of Kai, or a dollar for the number of times people said they’d love to see the inside one more time before we changed it to something else, we’d be able to retire. Well….here’s your chance! For those of you who remember what it was and the good times that you had, this will be your chance to take a walk down memory lane. Come stay with us and tour the wineries that are about an hour south. If you haven’t been to the Shawnee, you are missing out. Let’s not forget our local wineries as well. We have Crooked Creek Winery and others that are close to Centralia.

We are working on teaming up with a shuttle company to offer a package to stay with us and be shuttled around the Shawnee Forest Wine Trail.

Just a couple of hours from St. Louis near the Shawnee National Park is the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to our 1-bedroom suite. It has a King Bed, large walk-in closet with stacked laundry center and one sweet kitchen. And the bathroom is something from a magazine, if I may brag a little bit. It is available as a vacation rental until September 9th when someone has already rented it for a 3 month stay. It has a couch that turned into a double XL bed, so this little beauty can sleep 4 if needed.

Also, for those of you who might need both rentals for a large family gathering or wedding, please contact us for a package deal. I personally think it would be a great place for a family to stay for Christmas and/or New years!!! With both units, it’s possible to sleep 18 people.

About 6 blocks from Copperfield is this great venue with great character and atmosphere. It’s definitely on our list of suggestions inside the rental. It’s one of the many family owned businesses in the downtown area that are making it a nice place to visit.

We’re excited to bring the Beaucoup Bottom Band back this Friday night!!!! Nothing we love more than seeing Downtown and The Yard LIT UP. Come on Friday w/ BBB!!! 🥂

If you haven’t made it to Castle Ridge or Centralia yet, come see both. Many new things happening. We welcome visitors and appreciate your business.

When we started this vacation rental experiment, we had our doubts about the number of people who visit the Centralia area. It wasn’t long before our doubts were gone.

We have had people stay at Copperfield from opposite sides of the country because it was midway. We’ve had people come from hours away because they simply wanted see the old building in person. We’ve hosted family reunions and families who came to visit with ailing grandparents. And of course maybe my favorite, we’ve hosted a bride and her bride’s maids during one of the most important weekends of her life.

We appreciate those of you who’ve stayed with us and we hope to host those who have not. Our goal was to create a way for people to experience and enjoy the building that so many people recognize as part of Centralia’s charm and history. So far it seems we did what we had set out to do.

We have some new things coming, so please keep an eye out for future announcements.
