Charleston South Carolina is a major vacation destination in the country and the competition in the tourism industry in this city is very fierce. I am proud to report that in less than two years of running my own tour guide business my little one-man company is now ranked #1 on TripAdvisor out of all 376 tours and activities in the entire city. Thanks to everyone who has supported me in countless ways, I am truly blessed and honored to have the top tour on TripAdvisor in Charleston!

I no longer post a lot these days but once in a while there is something to share. I have earned the honor of receiving 478 reviews to this date about their experience on my walking tour in the Charleston South Carolina Historic District. All but three of these reviews are five stars. Yes, there are quite a few examples of positive comments but this recent one is a favorite because it speaks to my apparent ability to step outside of academia and reach thousands of people who visit Charleston and take my tour with a curious interest in history and with an intent of learning more about this city. I am humbled and honored to offer that experience to the best of my ability: https://charlestonhistorywalk.com

Well, my little historical walking tour company has climbed up to the #2 spot of all tours & activities to do in the entire city of Charleston South Carolina. I have worked hard at it with just one day off (Easter) in the last 60 days, but I want to thank my clients who have managed to post well over 200 five-star reviews in just four months. Come take my tour the next time you visit Charleston!

This is not a part of Charleston history per se, but my grandfather who just turned 99 is a piece of history himself; I am so blessed to have a grandad who has lived 99 years on this planet, he has taught me so much about history and I love him!

It is an honor to take anyone around the Charleston historic district on my walking tour but it is especially rewarding to take veterans. That is why I offer a discount to all active military members and veterans; thank you for your service to our great country! https://charlestonhistorywalk.com

After Queen Elizabeth’s II’s death I had the good fortune of discussing Charleston’s connection to England. Our local Channel 2 NBC News asked me to comment about the city’s rich history to the mother country of England.

I had the good fortune to appear on C-Span 3 with American History TV to discuss the complications of “Jacksonian Democracy.” Andrew Jackson was indeed a complicated & controversial man in American history. But like him or hate him, he is the only single individual for whom an entire era of American history is named after: Jacksonian Democracy. I bring Jackson into my Charleston history walking tour as his younger brother died in the American Revolution near the Stono River in SC, his older brother also died during the war, as did his mother, who died as a nurse in Charleston while she was tending to sick and wounded American POW’s during the British occupation of Charleston in 1781. It was an honor and privilege to discuss this complicated period of America’s past on national television!

St. Michael’s Anglican Church, the oldest church edifice in Charleston. So much could be said about this amazing place. Constructed between 1752-1761, it is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the United States. A lot of famous people have worshipped here over the years, including George Washington, Robert E. Lee, and Princess Diana!
