PARK REOPENING UPDATES

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site will re-open on Friday August 9, 2024 at 9:00 AM. Post-storm assessments show that the park is safe for visitor operations.

Fort Sumter Tours ferries will operate their regularly scheduled trips to the fort. A schedule and tickets can be found at www.fortsumtertours.com.

Fort Moultrie and much of Sullivanโ€™s Island experienced flooding. The Visitor Center will operate as normal. Some or all of the fort may be flooded. Conditions may change throughout the day as flooding drains. Exercise caution when exploring the park.

Charles Pinckney NHS will operate as normal.

Thank you for your patience and concern as our staff ensured our historic resources and visitors remained safe during the turbulent weather.

Liberty Square (Downtown Charleston):
- 9:00 am (boarding 8:45, back at 11:30)
- 12:00 pm (boarding 11:45, back at 2:15)
- 2:30 pm (boarding 2:15, back at 4:45)
- 4:15 pm (boarding 4:00, back at 6:30)

Patriots Point (Mt. Pleasant):
- 10:30 am (boarding 10:15, back at 12:45)
- 1:15 pm (boarding 1:00, back at 3:30)
- 3:45 pm (boarding 3:30, back at 6:45)

Planning a visit to Fort Sumter? Read on for a few tips to help make the most out of your visit to !

1. Reserve your tickets ahead of time! Purchase your tickets on our website or call 843-722-BOAT(2628). If you prefer to purchase in-person, please plan to arrive at least 1 hour prior to your desired tour time (schedule available on our website).

2. Timing is everything. The Fort Sumter Tour is approximately 2 hours long, which includes 1 hour exploring the grounds of Fort Sumter. Parking information for both Liberty Square and Patriots Point can be found on our website. Directions will be included in your confirmation email. Please plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.

3. Hydrate. Drink water. ๐Ÿšฐ. In addition to the Summer heat, you'll be moving around outside quite a bit during the Fort Sumter Tour. Please plan to bring a reusable cup, as water filling stations are available on the ferry and at Fort Sumter. We also sell water and other snacks on the ferry, which stays at Fort Sumter during your visit.
