The woman for whom Black Beard named his flagship (Queen Anne's Revenge) died on this date in 1714. Before he became a pirate, Black Beard sailed as a licensed privateer for Queen Anne.

Anne's reign saw the union of England and Scotland and created the single sovereign state known as Great Britain. Anne was succeeded by George I, the first of the Hanover kings. George remained unpopular throughout his reign for a number of reasons... one being the fact that he never learned to speak English!

Two days of treasure hunt tours with first graders from Ashley Creative Arts Elementary. Great kids!

Tomorrow, a group of 90 high school freshman coming to us from Tallulah Falls School in Georgia. They're doing a pirate tour with some other Charleston history highlights and a ghost story thrown in for good measure. This will be our 10th year with the school!

Inflating 37 swords and making 37 balloon parrots for school group treasure hunt tour tomorrow. Tomorrow night, I'll be doing 54 of each for another group. Thank God for my electric pump!

Almost forgot...gotta cut rectangles of black fabric for the kids to use to make their pirate flags.
