Do you know why NASCAR pit crews heat and scrape the used tires? To simplify, pit crews heat and scrape the tires to assess the amount of rubber remaining. After a tire has been used, whether during the race, through a pit stop, or after the race, it collects various debris on its surface due to its high temperature.
