Tag the quilt shop where you’d happily go bankrupt and drop a hint to your kids ... skip the petals and bring on the prints! (Unless the petals are ON the prints!)

Holmes County's first quilt shop began in 1965 in the Amanda Miller family kitchen as a small fabric store serving the Amish Community. Today, Miller's Dry Goods has expanded into two buildings to provide for Holmes County.

Whether you're beginning a new project or finishing up an old, make your way over to look through a wide variety of fabric, notions, batting and stencils. Also offering a beautiful selection of ready-made quilts in a variety of colors, patterns and sizes. With other accessories available including quilted wall hangings, pillows, potholders and a variety of unique handcrafted items.

We welcome Honey & Fig cafe to Charm! They’re located in the former Charm Family Restaurant building, within walking distance from the retreat. They offer dine in and carry out, fresh flowers and a boutique as well!

Sharing a bit of my annual Cousin’s Retreat at The Rural Thimble last week and how we do meals during our stay. We do 2 meals per day, with several people in charge of each meal…planning it, preparing it and then cleaning up as well. That way everyone has their turn, it works well for us!

Some of us that arrived Monday afternoon got settled in and went to East Main Kitchen in Baltic for dinner. (Highly recommend it!)

On Tuesday morning we had a few pastries people had brought and my cousin’s daughter made fresh homemade scones for us. Lunch was chicken fettuccine, salad, homemade herb bread, and assorted desserts. Dinner was rivel soup, a traditional Amish recipe- served with red beets, pickles, popcorn, crackers and snacks.

On Wednesday we had brunch- a breakfast casserole, toast and pastries. Dinner was pizza, assorted snacks, and dessert.

Thursday morning we had baked oatmeal with yogurt and fresh fruit and then leftover pizza, etc for later in the day before we headed home.

A wonderful time with family that we look forward to each year!

Sneak peek of what’s been happening this week…more coming next week! First up, a fresh coat of paint in the work area, kitchen, dining and living room! Some new curtains…(more on order) and the dining room table is at the finishing shop for a new protective finish!
