Back in office after a jam-packed weekend at the TAMS 2024 Conference! 🏢💼✍️

Over the weekend I met with a combined (150+) new and current suppliers & advisors… and added a ton of new information, updates and contacts into my pocket!

Beyond thankful to have a community of suppliers and advisors that continuously pour into this industry and give us true professionals the tools we need to grow and succeed. 👏

🗣️Let’s chat about seaweed/“sargassum” for a second.

✈️If you are traveling to Mexico or the Caribbean at any point in time- you may or may not experience this nature-induced substance on the beaches during your stay.

☀️Yes, summer tends to be the biggest “risk” but it is not a black and white answer as to if/when/how much you will encounter during the year.

📍This map of Quintana Roo, Mexico (main tourist areas of Cancun, Riviera Maya, Playa Mujeres etc) shows the difference in recent sargassum levels that can vary not only per day…but per hour!

📷While I completely understand it’s an eyesore and can be stinky and may even ruin those social media beach pics you had planned- going in with realistic expectations that no one can control will still allow you to have an AMAZING vacation.

🏝️If pristine white-sand beaches are a “must have” we can absolutely look at destinations that are less-likely to be effected.

👩‍🏫Always make sure you’re working with an experienced travel planner that knows the ins and outs of the destinations they are selling so you have realistic expectations and don’t come home disappointed from your well-deserved vacay.

Let's chat Jamaica, shall we?

I'm sure many of you have seen and/or heard the travel advisory that was recently issued for this beautiful island.

I highly recommend reading the article linked below to gain a sense of FACTS vs fiction.

The media has always prioritized headlines over reality/facts.

Scaring people away from visiting certain destinations year after year. Mexico is one of them. Dominican Republic gets a lot of heat, too. And right now, Jamaica.

Do bad things happen in Jamaica? Of course. We live in a broken world with bad people everywhere.

I challenge you to look into the crime rates and statistics in the cities you live in, in the good ole US of A.

Why? Perspective.

To quote facts regarding Jamaica's current crime levels:

"Serious crime was down by 11% last year, murders down by 8%, rapes down 15%. The advisory runs "counter to the fact that the general trajectory of crimes, particularly serious crimes, are all heading down."

At the end of the day, where you choose to vacation is your choice.

Just make sure you are making those choices based on facts.

Personally, Jamaica is a second home to me, and I would fly there tomorrow if given the opportunity.

Prime minister Andrew Holness seemed genuinely perplexed by the content and timing. Stewart said cancellations and transfers to other locations spiked, but that travel advisors saved many bookings.
