Class description
During this two-day intermediate workshop, participants will forge and assemble a small grill using traditional joinery techniques. Multiple methods for designing, forging, and forming hot steel will be discussed and demonstrated. Participants will focus on developing a grill uniquely suited to their skill level.
On-Site Tooling
Anvil, Forge, Vise, Sacrificial Chisel Plates (16ga Mild steel 4" square) 1 per Anvil, Drill Press or Hand Drill
Student Tools Required:
Favorite Forging Hammer Hot cut top Chisel
1/4" hot Punch Center Punch
Small Cold Chisel Half Round 10" Bastard Cut Hand File
1/4" Drill Bit Hacksaw (students can share if required)
Extra Tool Steel for forging 1 or 2 additional Chisels or punches

1/4" x 1" Flat Bar @ 18" x 4pcs (Frame)
1/4" x 1-1/2" Flat Bar @ 24" x 2pcs (Cross Bars)
1/4" x 4" Flat Bar @ 4" x 2pcs (Rosette)
1/4" Rivets @ 2" LG x Qty 6pcs (will trim to suit)
1/4-20 Bolts and nuts @ 1-1/2" LG x Qty 6 (temporary rivets)

- No need to work on the center leaves before the workshop
