Tonight is my last night in this house after 22 years almost to the day. I’m sitting in my favorite spot on the stone wall, watching the deer in the field and listening to the evening hum of birds and bugs. I was lucky to live here, as I have been in all my homes. I’ve loved them all. My daughter has spent most of her life here so it’s more difficult, but I remind her that what makes a house a home is the friends and family we’ve filled it with, and our next chapter ( are building my forever home in old Lyme) will be as sweet. 🥲
