📍Amsterdam - How do I know this you may ask? Because I was staying in Amsterdam on the hottest day in recorded history and nearly melted…

I was on a budget trip with some friends so we stayed in a hostel with zero air circulation. We ended up finding a hotel nearby that promisingly had air and moved rooms at 3am…. Only to discover that one the rooms available didn’t have air either and the other room was already occupied!

It was an absolute mess.

My friends and I laugh about it now, but I do wonder if it could’ve been prevented. If someone had given me the insight (say a travel advisor perhaps) would I have known to book somewhere that had air-conditioning just to be safe?

For the average person researching the weather in Amsterdam, you would never come across scorching temperatures because that just isn’t the norm.

This is just one of those things that you would only know if you experienced it and won’t show up on a Google search.

This is also what makes planning with a travel advisor so beneficial. Insider information is invaluable when it comes to travel. It can, quite literally, make or break your trip!

A new series! Today’s tip: When to Book Flights - With all the inquiries I’ve been getting for spring break and the current cost of flights, we need to get this on the table…

Waiting until the last minute to get a flight deal is not the way to go anymore. You need to plan ahead for your own sanity (and your travel advisors).

This isn’t really anything new (raise your hand if you knew the Tuesday/Wednesday booking hack), and it’s really all about being proactive.

There are some months to avoid booking. Like you should not be trying to book spring break in January. Why? Because so is everyone else and the algorithms know this. Wanna get away for Christmas? Booking your flight (& hotel for that matter) in October is too late in the game.

Could you find a stellar deal? Sure. But that just isn’t worth the anxiety for me.

If you aren’t using Google Flights to research, you’re driving up the cost of your own flight. Search once, set an alert, and buy when you get the email.

Final Pro Tip: Do some initial research on flights before you meet with your travel advisor. Reason being you’ll know the general cost and won’t be surprised if they end up over budget.

📍Key Largo - Guess what? You don’t even need to have a passport to experience an amazing adults-only all-inclusive…

📍Puerto Rico - My northern Puerto Rico guide is live!

To be honest, I can’t take all the credit for the itinerary because my dad and aunt who are native Puerto Rico, outlined it to start. However, I did add my own flare based upon restaurants and nightlife that I visited without their guidance.

What will you find in this guide, you may ask….well the first day, has you headed straight for the beach because we all know when you land in Puerto Rico that’s the first stop.

Of course there will be nights at La Placita and days spent lounging by the beach (or pool, whatever you fancy) but you’ll also explore the rainforest, go on boating adventures and shop your way through Old San Juan. And we can’t forget about the bioluminescent bay (mark my words, it will be the highlight of your trip).

📍Italy - The first honeymoon I planned this year took my clients all throughout Italy.

During our client consult, they told me how they got married at and wanted to experience the real Portofino. They also wanted to see all the history of Rome, the unique charm of Venice, and the beauty of Lake Como.

Originally, the couple wanted to visit Corsica too, so they could relax on the beach. But while Corsica is right next to Italy, it’s not the easiest to fly into from Italy. Instead, I showed them how Sardinia could fill that need and then some. This ended up being their favorite destination.

📍Geneva - Next to Italy, Switzerland has been my second most requested destination to plan.

But… a lot of people think they only need two or three nights in Switzerland.

📍Lisbon - Let’s talk Lisboa. I will undoubtedly have a home here in the next 10 years. I love it that much for now though let’s look at some hotels.

This is the in the Baixa (pronounced bye-shuh) neighborhood, which, if you’re asking me is the neighborhood to stay in, in Lisbon. There is so much to do within walking distance and so much to see. 📍 Somewhere between Chicago and New York- Everyone has their own preferences when picking a seat on a plane. If you’re a tall girlie like me, you definitely need the legroom, but what goes into picking the perfect seat?

Aside from, said, legroom, I have a few stipulations, and it depends on the length of the flight. For example, flights less than four hours, I can take the window seat. Yes, I will be locked in and unable to go to the bathroom, but I will get amazing views of the sky that makes the journey worthwhile.

If I’m traveling with my husband, I almost always get stuck in the middle seat. He needs the legroom more than I do from the aisle, but at least I can shove him out of the way if I have to use the restroom.

On flights longer than four hours I pretty much need an aisle seat, premium economy, or if I’m lucky, business class.

Because I do have long legs, I have to make sure that any bag that I bring with me can be put in the overhead bin to keep the legroom in front of me wide open. TBH, I just need my iPad and water bottle.

Circling back to the bathroom, I honestly try to never go to the bathroom on a plane. It’s too small. It freaks me out and it’s just not ideal. I would rather hold it until I got off the plane. I know that’s not realistic for every flight but I do my best.
