Mulled Wine Wednesday!

As the days get cooler, our drinks get warmer—and so does our wine! It’s the perfect seasonal twist on an already beloved beverage. Mulled wine has been enjoyed for centuries as a cozy, spiced drink to welcome the cold weather and holiday season.

Classic French Vin Chaud, is made with red wine, a splash of brandy, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and cloves, simmered just enough to blend the flavors without boiling away the alcohol. It's often garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg finish.

German Glühwein, traditionally sweeter, uses star anise, cardamom, and sometimes even a touch of vanilla or honey. You'll often find it served in colorful ceramic mugs at classic Christmas markets.

Fun Fact: In Scandinavia, a similar drink called glögg but this drink also includes almonds and raisins, giving it a nutty, fruity twist.
