🚨We’re almost out of kibble!🚨 This cabinet is typically full, but we’re down to our last couple of bags of food and we have 200+ mouths to feed! We also very much need bleach, canned pumpkin, 2 gal ziploc bags, powdered laundry detergent, and traffic handle leashes for our leash reactive puppers.

**HELP US FIND THE FIREFIGHTER THAT SAVED EMBER!**

Last night we were contacted by Chicago Animal Care and Control about an urgent cat. Sweet Ember was alone in what we believe was an abandoned apartment when it caught fire. CFD showed up, put the fire out, and found Ember who reportedly lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation. The fire was near East 79th St and South Chicago Ave.

This is where everything could have turned out differently. We know that outdoor cats and kittens are often forgotten. So many are ignored and left to survive on their own. So many are thought of as "just cats" and not worth the trouble.

But yesterday Chicago proved that we loves cats. Not only did a Chicago fire fighter resuscitate Ember, but they made sure she got to CACC, who made sure Ember received immediate treatment. Once at the shelter, their Placement Coordinator Meghan made sure that Ember found a rescue who could give her the urgent care she needs.

Ember is now at our emergency vet partner, where she will stay for observation to ensure her lungs improve. She's receiving amazing care and so much love.

We are hoping for your help in finding the Chicago fire fighter who saved her life. PLEASE SHARE SO WE CAN FIND THEM!

This is what volunteering looks like. 💙 Mornings are for cuddling, breakfast, playtime and more cuddling! We’re so grateful for our facility volunteers for keeping our dogs and cats happy and enriched in a shelter environment. We would not be able to do this without them!

We literally could not do what we do without our volunteers. They do everything! They help us in countless ways and we are so grateful. From taking care of pets at our facilities, to dog walks, field trips, helping in playgroups, writing “thank you” cards, transporting our pets around town, helping at adoption events, organizing and distributing community supplies, and SO much more!

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS! 💙 You are some of the most genuine humans we know and we feel so lucky to know you.

Can you help us with a big ask?

Joel and Helly are the parents of the cute, chunky, adoptable, puppies that you can see in the last picture. When we brought them to our rescue, we assumed that they could be separated and adopted to different homes.

However, it became clear on arrival that these two are attached to each other. While we don't want to anthropomorphize too much.... THESE TWO ARE IN LOVE! And who are we to keep young love apart??

Joel and Helly obviously get comfort for each other, they choose to go in the same kennel instead of taking seprate space, and when they are together their moods immediately perk up.

Can you help us keep these lovebirds together? We are looking for a foster or adopter to get them out of our facility and into a soft, loving home, asap. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and healthy!

Violet came over for some fun in the sun earlier this week and had a blast! This little gal loves affection and just wants to get all the pets she can. She is a pro at the zoomies-to-nap pipeline, often dozing off mid-play. Violet would love a forever home as an only pet, but don't worry she is more than enough love for one home! Spend just a few minutes with her and we think you'll agree. 💜

Beagle baby: 1 💥 Parvo: 0. We’re so happy to report that Lark is continuing to do great in her foster home! It’s truly so exciting to see her just be a puppy. She plays hard, naps harder. Meet Turkey, the resident Sour Patch Kid™ of the feline world. One minute he’s curled in your lap like a purring angel. The next? He’s ambushing your ankle with all the stealth of a jungle predator who missed naptime. 🙃 So, why does Turkey bite? Great question. Sometimes he’s overstimulated. Sometimes he’s under-stimulated. Sometimes he just wants to play, and sometimes he’s inventing his own rules to a game only he understands. He doesn’t growl, hiss, or throw tantrums—he just… chomps. And then purrs. It’s not personal. He’s just built different. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Turkey is looking for a foster home, but he’s not for the faint of heart. He’s not a lasagna-loving Garfield knockoff. He’s more like if Garfield did a stint in Fight Club. He needs daily structured playtime, mental stimulation, and a human who gets that “affection” sometimes includes teeth. (He thinks you’re a cat. You should take that as a compliment.) He’ll thrive in a home where his quirks are met with patience, humor, and a solid pair of socks. Bonus points if you’ve fostered behaviorally spicy cats before—or just enjoy a little drama with your cuddle sessions.

If you’re the kind of person who reads this and says, “He sounds perfect,” we need to talk. Because Turkey needs you. And because you’re probably also a little unhinged, and that’s exactly his type. 🔥

This is Woundy Williams 🥹💔 He was attacked by an animal and suffered some awful wounds. He was urgent at the shelter due to his medical needs, but we were able to scoop him up thanks to an open foster home!

Although he’s been through so much, he is the absolute sweetest little guy. He’s been spending his days cuddling with his foster and making biscuits like it’s his full-time job. Videos in comment section.

This is Molly’s “why don’t I ever get any adoption interest” face 🥹💔

Molly is about 5 years old and 63lbs. She is housebroken, great when left solo during the daytime, and super affectionate! Molly loves to lounge on the couch and is overall very chill inside the home. Like many of our longterm dogs, Molly prefers to be a solo dog and is looking for a home without other pets. Her ideal home is in a quiet area so she doesn’t have to encounter tons of dogs on her walks (she’s currently doing well in Avondale).
