If you plan on visiting the United Kingdom soon, there’s an important update that you need to be aware of. American travelers are now required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before embarking on their trip to the United Kingdom. The new requirement was put into place in order to try and increase security, which means that you’ll need to plan ahead to ensure smooth entry into the U.K.
When traveling, keep a small bag or section of your carry-on with items you'll need for the first day at your destination. Include essentials such as:
- A change of clothes
- Travel-sized toiletries
- Important documents
- Snacks and water
- Electronics chargers
This way, if your checked luggage is delayed or you’re too tired to unpack immediately, you'll have everything you need to start your trip comfortably.
