With marine ecosystems changing dramatically due to climate change and the role of busy ports and harbors, our students will learn firsthand about some of these issues, and help collect data that informs decisions on a local and global scale to help preserve these underwater habitats. In partnership with Scuba Point, we are returning to Italy and Sardinia next summer for more scuba diving and marine service work. High school students will get to work alongside marine conservationists and expert scuba divers, while also getting PADI certified as part of this 2 week trip. Hurricane relief and island exploring… We are returning to Puerto Rico to work closely with local organizations working hard to restore the island following Hurricane Maria. Our middle schoolers will not only learn about the environmental impact but also the community impact as we learn more about the lasting effects natural disasters can have on small communities. We will also explore El Yunque National Park, snorkel in the tropical water, and practice Spanish, and immerse ourselves in local culture.

At RLT, our European trips are always super popular as it allows students to immerse themselves in the unique cultures while discovering some of the best natural landscapes. From the crystal clear, warm waters of Greece, to the snowcapped mountains of Norway we have a range of programs for middle and high schoolers.

Introducing Together We Trek, a global fundraising event happening November 9-10, 2024, and we want YOU to be a part of it! The goal of this event is to unite RLT family and friends all over the U.S. and around the world, spending time outside on the same weekend to raise money for the RLT Scholarship Fund. This fund helps ensure that more young people can experience the life-changing magic of an RLT program, regardless of their financial situation.

Our experienced program leaders provide continuous mentorship, guiding teens through their journey and helping them reflect on their experiences. This mentorship supports personal growth, helping teens understand their strengths, address their weaknesses, and build both confidence and resilience. Our small group settings allow students to have a tight knit community where they can show vunerability, ask questions, have deeper conversations, and share their own growth with their new friends. This again, plays a big part in students growth while on an RLT trip.

Leadership development through service learning: Service projects teach teens the value of giving back and making a difference. Being part of a service project requires commitment, coordination, and execution—skills that are directly transferable to leadership roles. Moreover, seeing the impact of their efforts firsthand instills a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. It also helps teens realise the impact they can have, and will hopefully ignite a passion for doing good.

Leadership development through cultural immersion on RLT trips: Being immersed in different cultures broadens perspectives and enhances empathy. Teens learn to appreciate diversity and understand different viewpoints. This cultural awareness is a key component of effective leadership, enabling teens to navigate and unite diverse groups.

Teens learn best by doing. Our programs involve hands-on projects that require problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. Whether it’s building a community project in Costa Rica, teaching English in Thailand, or participating in environmental conservation in the Alps, these experiences teach teens to lead and make decisions in real-world situations.
