I’ve got a ton of Sunset Live Tours with Big Bus Tours on the schedule through October where you get amazing perspectives of the city on a double-decker bus. It’s pretty incredible seeing the iconic Chicago Theatre marquee at eye-level!

I am so saddened to hear that fellow tour guide, Chicago Tour-Guide Professionals Association vice president, cartographer-extraordinaire and all-around great guy, Dennis McClendon has passed away.

His loss will be felt by many in the tourism world here in Chicago. I am so grateful to have worked with Dennis over the years and I am honored to have considered him a friend.

Rest well and godspeed, pal.

My tour group visited Shedd Aquarium yesterday and a student came up to me and told me how much she loved it. This was her first time to an aquarium. She also said she enjoyed hearing my story of how I moved to Chicago, and how my career started at the Texas State Aquarium. She said she really wants to be a marine biologist. So we chatted for a bit while we waited for the rest of the group. She said she hopes she can visit other aquariums in the future.

I’m a packrat. I never throw anything away. So I am going to give her (with her teacher’s permission of course) these two pins:
