USTOA 2024 - The Most Important Meeting of the U.S. Tourism Industry with Polish Participation

More than 950 participants, including the Polish National Tourist Office (ZOPOT) in Chicago and representatives from Furnel Travel International and JAN-POL Incoming Tour Operator, attended the prestigious USTOA Annual Conference & Marketplace, held from December 9 to 13 in Florida.

This year's United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) Annual Conference & Marketplace, considered one of the most important events in the U.S. travel industry, took place at the JW Marriott Marco Island Hotel in Florida. The event brought together over 950 industry leaders, including 140 U.S. tour operators and delegates from 510 member companies, representing airlines, hotels, travel organizations, and ground operators.

Poland's Strong Presence at USTOA
Poland was represented by the Polish National Tourist Office and representatives from Furnel Travel International and JAN-POL Incoming Tour Operator. ZOPOT held 30 individual workshop meetings with representatives of the U.S. tourism industry. The discussions focused on promoting Poland as a stable and safe destination, offering unique cultural and natural attractions.

"The U.S. tourism market, though challenging and requiring years of investment, is a significant market for attracting foreign visitors to Poland. The PTO's participation in the USTOA convention strengthens Poland's image among major U.S. tour operators as a stable and safe destination. This is an important event for JAN-POL, allowing us to maintain long-standing relationships with North American partners," said Paweł Bączek, CEO of JAN-POL Incoming Tour Operator.

Monika Skrodzka, Vice President of Furnel Travel International, also highlighted the significance of Poland's participation at USTOA. "We first participated in USTOA in 1997, when Poland was still largely unknown to many tour operators. Today, there is much greater interest, though translating this interest into sales isn't always straightforward. That's why this event is crucial for us—it’s an excellent opportunity to meet decision-makers and stay informed about changing trends in the U.S. market," emphasized Vice President Skrodzka.

New Prospects for Polish Tourism
The participation of ZOPOT Chicago and representatives from Furnel and JAN-POL at the USTOA Annual Conference & Marketplace strengthened Poland's position as an attractive and stable tourist destination in the U.S. market. Numerous business meetings opened up new opportunities for collaboration and the further development of inbound tourism from the U.S.

"This event highlights the importance of building long-term relationships in the demanding U.S. market. Each such initiative brings us closer to greater recognition of Poland as a tourist destination," assessed CEO Bączek.

Key Facts and Data from USTOA
According to a study by consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), USTOA members estimate their revenues will reach $24.4 billion by the end of 2024, serving 8.4 million travelers. For comparison, they generated $22.6 billion in revenue and served 7.9 million travelers in 2023. Projections for 2025 are optimistic, with anticipated sales growth of 7–10%. Additionally, 60.3% of all travel packages sold by USTOA members are booked through travel agents, highlighting the crucial role of travel advisors.
