⚜️ Celebrating the life of Palmer House Hilton’s most prolific storyteller, Ken Price.
Ken Price believed that experiencing was key to understanding. He perfected the art of storytelling and often said, “What the eyes don’t see, the mind doesn’t comprehend; what the fingers don’t touch, the heart doesn’t feel.” As hotel Historian and Director of Public Relations at Palmer House for nearly 40 years, his passion for history and storytelling provided the platform to build a legacy with the History is Hott tour, where guests were invited to see and touch historic artifacts while learning about the hotel’s rich past.
To honor his memory and continue the legacy of Ken Price, the hotel led a one-off, private history tour with clients to share the story of Palmer House. This exclusive and rare tour included access to the Palmer House vault to see Bertha Palmer’s 24-karat, Havilland Bone China-valued at $30k per set, and original Polaroid portraits from the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. A visit to the Pastry Kitchen was a sweet surprise, to taste the original Palmer House Brownie, where it was invented, followed by access to the Palmer House Museum and Archive to view, touch and learn the story behind rare artifacts and relics of the hotel’s 151-year history.
Ken’s dedication to preserving the hotel’s history earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award, a well-deserved recognition for his lifelong passion and legacy to Palmer House.
💭 “If you remove the ‘H’ and ‘I’ from History, what do you have? You have Story!” ~ Ken Price
