Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. ❤️🖤💚

Happy Lunar New Year 2024‼️
One of the best parts of being in China over the last couple of weeks was seeing the excitement building for the Chinese New Year celebrations. 🇨🇳 From Beijing to Shanghai to Hong Kong and Macau, it was easy to see that this is their most important holiday!

It's the Year of the Dragon! 🐉

Chinese New Year in 2024 falls on Feb. 10 and ends with the Lantern Festival on Feb. 24.

Wow...what a marvel‼️
The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. The statue is located near the Po Lin Monastery, which built it.

‼️Travel Tip Tuesday‼️
The beginning of the year is a great time to make sure you're ready for all the trips you have planned!

1) Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of return from any foreign destination. Even if the foreign country does not mandate this, some airlines will refuse to board you if you don’t pass this criteria.

2) It should have one or two blank pages. The immigration guys need some space to do their job!

3) Your passport should be undamaged. Make sure the binding is intact and that none of the pages (especially the front and back pages) are damaged.

Kwanzaa is an annual holiday celebrated primarily in the United States from December 26 to January 1. It emphasizes the importance of the pan-African family and corresponding social values.

Each day of is tied to one of the holiday’s seven principles: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani). Each day, families bring out corresponding symbols and light a new candle on the kinara (candleholder). On the final day a feast is held, called the karamu.
