Hello All,

I lost my Go Pro 11 yesterday somewhere in the South Fork Eagle River Vicinity between Barbara Falls and the North/South Fork Eagle River Confluence.

It could be along the creek headed north or downstream going to the confluence, at the confluence, or on the main trail headed from the confluence.

It could also be at at Barbara Falls. I have a lot of memories and work videos on that camera that I would love to get back. If you find it and can return it I’ll give you $100.

It is in a case on a foldable tripod with a slightly cracked front screen. DM me with information or if you find it. Appreciate the help!

But before you go out, did you know around a third of Alaska's accidental drownings are alcohol related? We will be open daily, starting tomorrow, Thursday May 25th from 10-6pm.

Normal operating hours are 10-6 Sunday through Friday and 10-8 on Saturday.

We’ll update you on any date or time differences.

We rent bikes and kayaks and offer a variety of guided tours.

We plan on opening tomorrow at 10am for bike rentals and as long as the winds are in our favor kayaks will be available as well!

Greeting All,

Due to low registration and trail condition uncertainty, we have unfortunately decided that we will need to postpone the return of the Eklutna Challenge until next year, May 4th 2024.

It was a bit of a time crunch in preparation for this event and expect much better results with a year to plan. All the event details will remain the same, and proceeds will go be the same beneficiaries, Alaska Trails, and Eagle River Nature Center.

Any registrations we’ve collected will be returned to the payor.

Good Morning!

We’re proud to announce the return of the Eklutna Challenge!!! This is a race that was held annually in the 2000’s until 2016. It’s a 3 mile run and 15 mile bike duathlon that heads through Eydlu Ben’s trail and Eklutna Lakeside trail. The race will take place on April 29th starting at 10:00am.

Entrance fees are $45 until April 20th, and $55 from April 21st - April 29th. All proceeds will be donated to Alaska Trails and the Eagle River Nature Center .

The event is limited to 200 participants. Show your support of the Chugach State Park trails and these wonderful organizations. Spread the word. Share, share, share!!!! We’ll see you there!!!

Greetings everyone!

My name is Matt and I like to have fun in the wilderness. If you catch me inside, then something is not right ;) I like to hike, backpack, ski, skate, bike, climb, kayak, canoe and much much more.

I've lived in Alaska for 11 years and have a family with a beautiful partner, an incredible 7-year daughter, and two quirky cats named Pete and Moss...Did you catch that? My daughter doesn't really like to hike, but, that's ok! She's awesome at Tae Kwon Do. 🦵

Why am I telling you this? Well, I thought you should know a little bit about the NEW owner of Lifetime Adventures! That's right, I am the new owner and I'm looking forward to serving you awesome, Alaskan experiences.

As you probably know, Lifetime Adventure's primary hub of adventure is at the majestic Eklutna Lake, just 45 minutes north of Anchorage. Our job is to help you get on the water, peddle around the lake or hike to new heights! Our building along the Eklutna lakeshore has daily bike and kayak rentals, which we'll begin renting at the beginning of May just as soon as the ice breaks. We'll continue offering rentals well into the end of September.

If you're a group, corporation, non-profit, mission group, or teen group looking for wellness activities, group activities, or team building, we also have guided services for you too.

Yes bears do walk through campgrounds in Alaska including this one at the Eagle River campground. Keep your food stored in a vehicle or in the supplied bear resistant food containers. These pictures were taken right before using horns to get the bear back to the river and moving on

First day kayaking Eklutna Lake in 2021.....The lake was still mostly iced over however it is going quick. We will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am

We need help!

Position 1 Eklutna Lake kayak and bike rental agent. Hours 10 to 6 kayaking experience is not required but helpful. Must be able to help lift the kayaks. Person will also help with group trips. Must be 18 years old or older

Position 2 Part time campground host at Eagle River campground. Must stay overnight on days you are the host. Could be a full time position for the right person.

The Eagle River campground will open on Friday at 4pm!
If you arrive before 4pm to get a spot please leave room for traffic
Please keep in mind that there will still be some patches of ice and snow. The day use area will not open until Saturday at noon.

Covid-19 info
Bathrooms will continue to be sanitized daily between 8am and 9am. The campground host will still wear a mask and we ask that you give her and the other staff some space. Be kind to each other.

Other things to know for an early opening

There will be patches of ice and snow in the campground possibly including the road.
Water for rvs will not be available. Bring what you need.
The dump station will remain closed
Shirley will be the host again this year, stop and say hello
We have not seen any bears yet, keep your food stored properly

Still over a foot of snow at Eagle River campground. We are still planning on opening as early as possible. April 30th at the earliest and by May 6th at the latest if the weather holds. Photos were taken Saturday morning.
