Celebrating Juneteenth Day

On this date in 1865, U.S. Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger delivered to the people of Galveston, TX a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. Thus beginning what is now known as…Juneteenth Day!

On June 17, 2021, U.S. President Joseph R. Biden signed into law the Juneteenth National Independence Act, which establishes June 19th as a federal holiday.

We recently had the opportunity to show off our Auburn facility and capabilities to a group of students from Jonathan Clingan’s, instructor, Baron Advanced Manufacturing (BAM) class from DeKalb High School.

Rob Carr, Swiss Lathe Supervisor, provided a tour of the plant to give the students an upclose look at the various machines, products and processes that go into manufacturing cutting edge medical devices. Predominant message is that there continues to be numerous opportunities to learn, grow and advance with us professionally. Looking forward to potentially having them as part of our future team.

We had the privilege today to show off our South facility and capabilities to a group of students from Dave Bercel’s, instructor, Advanced Manufacturing class from Columbia City High School.

VP of operations, Todd Rehrer, provided a guided tour of the Machining areas, Quality, raw materials and our DMLS 3-D Printing. Main message is that there are numerous opportunities to learn, grow and advance with us professionally. Additional thanks to Lori Heuer, Talent Development Director, for organizing the trip.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Ivy Tech Community College of Fort Wayne held an Apprenticeship Day for local High School students. Many of those who stopped wanted to learn more about what we do and opportunities. Look forward to seeing them in the future.

That’s a wrap on this years Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana 2023 Job Sparks event. The ultimate career fair connecting with over 6500 students from schools covering a 10 county area. Great questions by the kids and fun for all learning about possible careers. Have a great rest of the school year and looking forward to meeting again.
