GOTR is for Every Girl All Year Long
On this Giving Tuesday, we share this video of Girls on the Run Greater Cincinnati Council Founder Erin Hamilton as she receives the Amy Elmore Unstoppable Spirit Award.
This year marks 20 years that we’ve been in operation locally. In the video, Erin perfectly captures why GOTR is an important outlet for local girls and how our community supports our work in many ways.

Thank you, 5K Cheer Zones & Mascots!
Let’s all give three cheers for our incredible 5K CHEER ZONES and Visiting Mascots! 🙌 👏 🙌
Thank you all so much for your high-fives, noise-making, shouts of ‘WOOOO!’ and ‘You Got This!’ and general encouragement all along the course. We’re sure our girls had a little extra pep in their steps because of it! 👯

Thank you, 5K Volunteers!
A Heartfelt THANK YOU to Our Incredible 5K Volunteers! 🫶💖
🥳 Our 20th Birthday Girls on the Run 5K was a resounding success, and it was made possible in large part by you... our volunteers!
Despite a cloudy morning, your enthusiasm shone brightly. ✨ Every role was crucial, from setting up the venue and Fun Zones, checking-in participants and volunteers, photographers capturing magical moments, course supporters diligently offering help at the Start / Finish, Water Stops and throughout downtown, Cheer Zones cheering, Green Team keeping us tidy and to everyone in between… you brought all kinds of Star Power to this event and we could not be more grateful! ⭐️
GOTR Cincinnati Fall 5K
GOTR 5K Days are always special and each is unique in its own way.
We feel immeasurably fortunate to share in these events with our ever-expanding community and are grateful for the bonds strengthened each season. Whether between girls, with our like-minded community or with city partners, we honor the relationships built to empower others, especially local girls.
Check out a few milestones we celebrated along with cheering over 950 girls across the finish line yesterday. And stay tuned as we share many more pics from the entire 5K course in the next few days!
✨ This fall, we worked with a local nonprofit called The Bridge Adaptive Sports & Rec to welcome a hand cycling division to our start. The Bridge also brought along a group from be.well at Children’s Hospital, which also works with kiddos of all abilities. The top it off, an anonymous donor sponsored all 30+ registrations.
✨ Another first - we hosted a Community Partners section of our venue where we invited nonprofits serving the same populations as GOTR to exhibit and share their mission. There’s room for everyone at the table here at GOTR.
✨ For the first time since Covid, we hosted our largest season of program participants. Now more than ever, our girls NEED our programming.
✨ And finally, we invited Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey and Cincinnati Police Chief Theresa Theetge to be special guests. The Sheriff is the first woman to win office in this position (having recently won reelection, too) and the Chief is the first female to hold this position in the department. Girl power!
A huge thanks goes to our incredible volunteers, dedicated parents and guardians, steadfast community partners, committed staff and especially all of the strong girls who made today yesterday possible. 🫶🤟💖

International Day of the Girl
Big or small, every girl's ideas, words, and perspective matter. And on International Day of the Girl, we emphasize the importance of nurturing girls’ self-confidence, embracing their individuality, and encouraging them to activate their limitless potential.
Recent research showed that eight out of 10 girls feel they are going to “explode” because of pressure, and nine out of 10 feel under pressure to fit into specific roles or stereotypes. On this International Day of the Girl, let’s empower girls everywhere to silence this negative self-talk and replace it with confidence that shines from within!

Thank you, Molly. 💞
Having your guiding presence with us for our 5th Annual Sneaker Soiree, 20th Birthday Celebration, and morning panel discussion was an absolute joy. ✨
Thank you for sharing your stories, your passion, your personal brand of wisdom, your understanding of what girls need and want and your willingness to let them express themselves in whatever way makes them feel most whole. 🦋
And in a remarkably telling gesture demonstrating your capacity to uplift others, you shared the spotlight by turning it onto our very own Maria Kretchik, naming her as a living, breathing embodiment of GOTR’s mission in action.
We feel immense pride in being able to carry out the vision that you gave form to many years ago and will continue to serve girls (and women!) in this program until we ALL know and believe in our limitless potential.
Thank you for your heart, your mind, your humility, your bold storytelling.
Thank you for you.
Here’s to another 20 years of Girls on the Run! 🎉
