Buggs Island Bungalow served as the perfect setting for our friends 40th birthday over the weekend. We cleaned out the front room, which we will be painting and remodeling this winter, and it was the perfect spot for a smashing dinner party!

Calling all hikers to celebrate National Trails Day with us as we host a Leave No Trace trail litter clean-up event on June 4, 2022. All participants will receive free admission into the park and be supplied with trash bags/gloves. Participants can then hike any trail they wish while collecting litter along the way. Trash collected in bags can be left for pickup at each trailhead.

We have been following the weather closely for the past week. Unfortunately, instead of getting better it has gotten worse. All of the weather forecasts are showing at least 80% chance of rain on Friday and Saturday. It looks like this weekend will be a wash out!! The Board of Directors for Lake Life Live has decided to cancel this weekend's Buggs Island Beach Music Festival Weekend. We are already working with the bands to find a date later in the year. This was not an easy decision....our concerns are always for our bands, patrons, and vendors.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, June 4th with The Chairmen of the Board!! Gates will open at 5:00 and the music starts at 6:00

Two Goldens is sure to be a Summer favorite. It is a straw to medium blonde that has moderate bitterness and maltiness. A very approachable style of beer that has a very rounded and smooth flavor profile. Come by the brewery Thursday, April 7th for a taste of the Two Goldens Blonde Ale, and help us celebrate our 5 year anniversary with $5 pints all day. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Two Goldens will go to support Lake Country SPCA. Also thank you to Jacob Scott Mcquain with PMP by Jacob for getting this wonderful picture.

In Mecklenburg County, Cedar Grove is a Greek Revival-style house built circa 1838. Its design is unusual for a Virginia plantation house, consisting of a hip-roofed main block on a raised basement with a large, hip-roofed clerestory. Its fine brick masonry may have been overseen by Dabney Cosby, a workman for Thomas Jefferson during the construction of the University of Virginia. Unusual interior treatments in the house include woodwork with traits associated with Thomas Day, an African American craftsman in nearby Milton, NC. Cedar Grove’s other existing buildings include to***co barns, slave quarters, and tenant houses that recall its former days as an antebellum to***co plantation.

Caveat: Cedar Grove, similar to many buildings from colonial and antebellum Virginia, was built with enslaved (and often highly-skilled) people, and possibly as well with indentured servants, Irish laborers, and other journeymen who could have been intermingled with the enslaved workers.
