Miss Rachel Riot and Raquel Williams of DPM Studios are teaming up to present North Carolina’s FIRST and ONLY intensive burlesque workshop taught by a certified dance instructor! The Shimmy Seminar is a four-week burlesque school that teaches students everything they need to know to perform a dazzling, fun, and professional burlesque routine. Students in this workshop will be taught burlesque hist
ory, costume and pastie construction, group choreography, prop usage, and the art of creating a stage name and persona. This four week course will have a different focus each week with students using their own creativity together with the experience of their teachers to create a convincing stage character, along with a sultry burlesque routine that is all their own. Students will have the opportunity to practice their group and solo numbers in front of an experienced dance teacher and seasoned burlesque dancer, as well as in front of their classmates in order to improve their number before sharing it at the group recital following the completion of the class. Students are taught in a private and accepting environment, and students from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend whether experienced dancers or beginners. Miss Rachel Riot and DPM Studios believe that all women and body types are beautiful and will help students cultivate the confidence to perform, whether onstage or at home. Whether you’d like to perform for your special someone or start booking yourself in professional productions, The Shimmy Seminar will teach you all of the necessary skills in a fun and supportive environment. Class meets for four consecutive weeks. We are currently booking for April 2017. Class meets on Saturdays: April 1, April 8, April 15, (no class April 22), and April 29. Total cost for The Shimmy Seminar is $200. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot in class. The additional fee is due on the first day of class with no exceptions.
