I have been teaching since I was a junior in high school. I have played for 16+ years and have had many years of formal instruction. I have also played pipe organ for many years and I love all types of music. My Artist Statement:
The bright eyes of a child could outshine the sun when they realize they are capable of anything they strive to achieve. I cherish the opportunities to help children ach
ieve such success. My innovative piano education has made many a child's eyes glisten with joy, and it is that very sight that drives me to continue to motivate and illuminate children through piano education. My Positioning Statement:
My piano educational services provide the technique of training one to have a musical "ear". By teaching the basics of chromatic scales and chord formations from the very first day children are able to learn musical works more quickly and effectively. Good musicians can read music, but the best musicians can read the music and predict the next pitch! My Value Statement:
My piano education rests upon the foundational basics of music while incorporating the use of modern technology to enhance the educational experience. I find it critical when working with children to use both timeless classical works for education pared with the modern music they love to hear on the radio. This paring keeps children interested in learning piano and sharing that love with generations to come. I believe learning to appreciate qualities of all types of music as well as they building blocks in all of those musical types is important and aids to enhance the yearn to tickle the ivories for years to come. My piano education approach relies on teaching the basic scales, chords, and cadences. I use chords to help teach students how to predict pitches. This creates the start of a musical "ear". I think it is equally important for a student to hear when they have played something wrong as it is that they see where they have played something wrong. I strongly encourage a mixture of music. I remember growing up I couldn't stand playing only church and classical music. I think it's extremely important that students play all types of music including classical and popular works. I especially love working with children. As the daughter of an elementary school teacher I have helped work with youngsters for quite some time. I also participate in many community efforts. In the summer I have coached swim teams. I am good with encouraging and motivating children to strive to do their very best! I serve the Clayton/Knightdale areas.
