It's time to dive, dive, dive.......finally. Winds are down and seas should be calm. We dove this past week and vis was GREAT. Almost top to bottom in 50 feet. Yes the water was a little brisk for some, but I guess that's why they make wetsuits which we have to rent if needed. We will be diving both Saturday and Sunday and have a 3 tank spear trip Sunday. Happy Monday and sorry for the delay in keeping everyone up to date with the business. We are happy to report that with the combination of preparation and luck, we made it through Milton ok. The shop’s roof received some major damage, but we are fortunate to have a great landlord and the new roof will be done by Wednesday. 2 of the boats went on a short walk while the winds reached their peak but ended up fine. Thankfully we will just continue the clean up and rebuild that Helene left in her wake. We will resume scuba classes and rod and reel charters by the end of this week. For our gulf dives, we will get a vis check during the week of the 20th to determine our next bookings. Until then, we are going to take this time to repair the shop along with helping rebuild the communities in which we all live. We are not committing to any shop hours for the next 2 weeks, but phones should be good to go this week and if your in the area feel free to stop by and say hello.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering in the aftermath of two devastating hurricanes hitting our coastline.

Even though it landed in the craziest week of the year, we’re happy to report that the Orion passed her annual USCG Safety Inspection with a perfect score!! 🛥️💯🎉

Hurricane cleanup continues to move forward and we will head out tomorrow for our first post-Helene visibility check. So fingers crossed, and if we find the conditions we’re hoping for, dive operations will resume as early as this weekend.

Well it's been non stop and we have made great progress. Air and nitrox banks all put back together, fill station and rental area ready for the next dive trip. Fishing area back in order. Check out counter cleaned up and finally got internet and phone back late yesterday. All while getting the Orion ready for her yearly Coast Guard inspection that's scheduled for tomorrow. Safe to say it's time for the best damn beer anywhere. Reef Donkey, Coral Reef, and my new favorite Spaghetti Model IPA compliments of Tampa Bay Brewing Company

Hurricane Helene Cleanup: Day 1 🌀🧹

This is what we mean when we say we have THE. BEST. CREW.

Twenty-three people, working eight hours nonstop- unbelievable what was accomplished in a day. If cleaning, hauling and ripping down water-damaged walls was a competition, this team would take a gold medal. 🥇

We can’t thank you enough for all your hard work, and again thank you to everyone that reached out to check on us.

2Shea Fishing & Diving Center will be back and better than ever in no time, and charters will resume immediately (as conditions allow).

Appreciate everyone reaching out. Probably have over 100 texts from customers that have become family over the years. Really means alot. All the important stuff made it out ok.....boats, compressors, crew, families. The shop can be cleaned and rebuilt. Will give us a chance to work on our drywall skills. Will always be fortunate for what we have instead of what was lost. Shop will be closed for a little while until we get it figured out, but fishing and diving will resume ASAP. Fishing trips by Sunday and all scuba hopefully by next weekend. Going to be a fantastic October on the Gulf of Mexico.

Hope we did all this for nothing.......2 boats stripped and secured with multiple anchors and 2 secured in the marine. Compressors disconnected and moved to higher ground. Shop stocked with beer, water, and brats for tomorrow. Big thanks to our bad ass crew and the guys in the back for all the help these last 2 days and prayers to everyone in this storms path.

According to our favorite Arkansas crew, they deserve all the credit for the better visibility. They showed up Tuesday for their yearly 3 day Spearfishing bonanza. They knew they were going to miss gag, but they like hogs better anyways. Well they limited out all 3 days and yesterday we had between 20-40 feet off Clearwater from 50-70 feet. So nice to be able to see again especially with a busy weekend ahead.

It hasn't been the easiest gag grouper season, but we are starting to figure it out. It's not bad vis, it's bad water. Some sort of tannic and pushing the gags. The past few days we have found 15-30 feet of vis and great spearing. Capt Eric came back from vacation and hit a home run on his Spearfishing class. 5 more days......
