MAY 2024 OKEECHOBEE REPORT

Boy O Boy did May go fast. Although we didn't see any monsters we did see a bunch of nice fish in the 4-5 pound range. Most days saw catches of 50 plus fish. With the spawn being over we are focusing on Blue Gill beds with topwater and Senkos. The lake is really low and all you have to do is find the areas with a lot of Blue Gill beds and cast around them. Shout out to trips with Mike, Henry, and Tom with some really nice catches (below).

We also competed in the first tournament of the 2024 Roland Martin Marine Series. It was one of those tournaments where you had em dialed in in practice but they didn't show up on tournament day. We finished middle of the pack and look forward to getting back at them in the next event in July.

APRIL IS IN THE BOOKS - The big bite from March carried on through April and we registered some really nice catches. Of note is Drew Bozych all the way from Southern California - check out some of his BIG fish below. Hats off to repeat customers Jim G from Ohio and Lou and grandson Kristian.

May is shaping up to be a numbers month as we're catching 20-30 bass a day on lures (primarily senkos and speed worms).

May is wide open and if you want to catch some numbers on lake Okeechobee message me and I'll get right back to you. Also, don't forget that we do trips to the Everglades (the Peacocks are really firing up down there)

WELCOME TO THE 50TH ANNUAL MGRE "BIG POOL"!
NCAA MARCH MADNESS

For Merry Go Round Alumni (and friends)!

This is the original "Big Pool" created at Merry Go Round 50 years ago as a friendly competition between the MGRE Finance Team and our CPAs KPMG (Pete Marwick). Merry Go Round was a big sports Office and March was big on the Sports calendar. Opening day, March Madness, and our MGRE softballs teams were in focus. The Big Pool founder (Isaac Kaufman) and Mike Sullivan would let me stay in the office for 3 weeks straight so I could manage the pool and listen to Charles Benjamin's betting commentary. Side bets included how many entries Stuart Lucas would submit and if Billy Raitzyk would ever win with his "longshot" strategy.

We are changing the format a little and making the pool more conventional (all picks due at onset of pool) (not round by round) and also reducing the entry to a more affordable $25.

Our new website also offers real time chat and better tracking of the pool results. It's a great place to catch up with old friends or just participate in some good ole fashion trash talk.

EARLY - MID FEBRUARY 2024 REPORT

A colder than usual Feb here in South Central Florida so far but the fishing on Lake Okeechobee and The Headwaters has been excellent. A series of weekly cold fronts continue to make the bite challenging and our groups tough it out and score some pretty impressive catches. Notables are Steve and Pete from PA., Alan and Tina from MO., Wesley from Harrisburg, and Jimmy, Chris and Kuhn with (Chad's West Virginia Group)

Late January 2024 Report

The dreaded January "cold fronts" have been trying to keep us down but I'm here to tell you that Lake Okeechobee is fishing as strong as ever.

Special call outs to great repeat customers "Memphis Mafia" Tommy and his boys Taylor and Brian as well as Penn State Karl and his gang.

Lure only anglers Adam and Sarah (Sarah had the big fish of the period on a square bill crankbait) and Royce and Kevin from Colorado with a bunch of nice chunks.

MID JANUARY UPDATE!

We continue to see great numbers and some really nice BIG fish coming in. Check out some of the shots below. Noteworthy is Joe and Anna from Ocean City, Maryland with 7.5 and 6 pounder. Brian and Heidi from upstate New York with a 7. Justin and Michelle from West Palm Beach with a couple fives and Tennessean Jeff Harris with a bunch of nice chunks. Come on down y'all. I have some dates open around Valentines Day and St. Patty's Day so book now.

All I can say is... it's been an incredible 1st week of 2024 on Lake Okeechobee. The big spawners are moving in and our guide trips have seen a dozen big ones over 5 pounds including our first TrophyCatch Florida entry. The numbers are awesome too. The biggin came in at 9.16 pounds making BK and his boys Kruger and Powell (from Austin, Texas) glad they stopped by while in southern Florida for vacation week. Just take a look at these babies. I still have a couple January dates open, and several in February, so book as soon as you can. Reach out on Facebook Messenger and I'll get back to you ASAP.
