We're ringing in the new year with a new schedule, offerings, and Family Packages!

The 2025 season will begin with three weekends of events in January featuring Sugar Express steam locomotive no. 148, including the Lake Placid Local out of Lake Placid, Clewiston Comet between Lake Placid and Clewiston, Highlands County Crescent out of Sebring, Lake Placid Limited between Clewiston and Lake Placid, and the Palmdale Pioneer Ice Cream Train.

The Sugar Express Toys for Tots Train is returning on December 12th!

Our steam-powered train will deliver hundreds of gifts to South Central Florida's Toys for Tots program! At each of the four stops, children can drop off a letter for Santa and see him in person while elves deliver gifts for the Toys for Tots program.

Every 3 hours, a person or vehicle is hit by a train in the United States, and over 60% of vehicle-train collisions occur at crossings with lights or gates. Throughout the passenger railroads in South Florida, we've seen an increase in tragedies as motorists ignore grade crossing warnings or when people trespass on railroad tracks. If you see something unusual or dangerous near a railroad crossing, report it. Each crossing has an Emergency Notification System (ENS) sign with contact information. In an emergency, call 911.

Meet the newest member of the fleet! Originally built for the Florida East Coast Railway in 1938, Bay Biscayne is an elegant observation lounge car that we're pleased to return to the Sunshine State to ride behind our steam locomotive. Bay Biscayne is available for guests 18 years of age and older on all of our trains, including the Lake Placid Limited, Clewiston Comet, Highlands County Crescent, and each of our Christmas Train. All tickets to ride in first class include refreshments and appetizers.

This year's newest excursion is the ARCHBOLD ARROW 🚂🦜🌴 We're partnering with the Archbold Biological Station for a special excursion between Clewiston and Venus, Florida with a layover and tour at this science and conservation center.

Founded in 1941 and located on the ancient scrub habitat of the Lake Wales Ridge in Highlands County, Archbold's mission is to build and share the scientific knowledge needed to protect the life, lands, and waters of Florida, and beyond. Passengers will learn the wonders of the scrub from Executive Director Hilary Swain as she explains Archbold’s scientific legacy, conservation efforts, and community outreach.

📆🌴Our 2024 Fall–Winter excursion calendar has arrived! 🌴🛤️

Holiday train rides, day-long excursions to regional farmers markets, a journey to the Archbold Biological Station, and family-friendly offerings are coming this October through December. Ticket sales begin August 20th at sugarexpress.com.

The remaining season will begin October 19th with the Lake Placid Limited operating between Clewiston and Lake Placid. On October 20th, the Archbold Arrow will invite guests to travel from Clewiston to the historic Archbold Biological Station, founded in 1941, to take an afternoon nature tour.

Sugar Express’ offerings will include 2-hour train rides operating out of Sebring, Florida aboard the Highlands County Crescent in November; and six-hour roundtrips between Clewiston and Lake Placid on the Lake Placid Limited in October.

The Santa Express will visit Highlands and Hendry Counties this December as U.S. Sugar’s popular Christmas excursions return for a third year, operating out of Sebring on Saturday, Nov 30, December 7th and 8th, Clewiston on December 14th, and 15th, and Lake Placid on December 20th, 21st, and 22nd. A new 18-and-over first-class car, group discounts, family table packages, private charters, and more are available.
