With this kind of a cloud I can’t help but get fired up for next springs snagging season. Huge thanks to all who have rebooked for next year and to all coming for their first time with us. Snagging spoonbill has been in my blood since my dad took me at the age of 8 years old. 46 years later I still love every minute chasing these awesome fish at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. No time for rest this summer for Captain Mike and Dillon. We have been busy working hard on a big job up in Iowa. Counting the days till snagging season. I know it’s a long ways off but it will be here soon enough. A lot of days have already been filled on our schedule so if your thinking of booking next spring don’t wait to long. Took a ride over to Mom and Dad’s house yesterday evening wishing I could tell him happy Father’s Day. Gosh I sure miss those two people in my my life. I was blessed to call you Dad. I can only strive to live up to the example you set in my life.

Many of you whom have fished with us have been in the boat with either my son Dillon during the week or on weekends it was likely my oldest son Matthew. I just want to give him a big thank you for juggling a very busy schedule to be able to get out on the lake for some snagging with our clients. Congratulations to Matthew and Skylar on their wedding this past weekend on May 4. It may have been scheduled to not coincide with the season. lol. May god bless you both with many years of happiness and many spoonbill on the deck. That Skylar can man handle them spoonies as good as anyone I know too. Love you guys. Dad/Captain Mike

I know it’s not a spoonbill but this young man, my middle son Dillon worked so hard for me on the back deck of the boat. After packing up and getting home from Lake of The Ozarks, we were finally able to take the time to get out and get after a bird for him. I’m so proud of the hard work he put in this year fishing and I can’t give him enough credit for our success this season. It thrilled me to be able to call this old double bearded Tom in to close range. He blessed us with a beautiful display that turkey hunters dream of and as usual, Dillon never misses. Thank you God for these amazing creatures you put on earth for us. Love you Dillon!!

2024 snagging season has come and gone. All I can say is wow that went fast. Had many amazing people aboard the boat and what a blessing it was to fish with you all. We boated a total of 302 keeper paddlefish with the largest being 110 #. The last day was saved for family and some buddies and we caught 5 nice ones to put in the freezer. I love some grilled blackened paddlefish. I want to say special thanks to the fine folks at Station 46 Marina & Vacation Rentals for welcoming us to their awesome establishment. For anyone wanting a vacation getaway look no further these amazing people who go out of their way to make you feel at home in their beautiful rental houses at the lake. The interaction with other guides on the lake was truly amazing, we communicated on a daily basis to keep each other on the fish to give the clients the best fishing experience possible. A lot of work goes into it but the smiles on peoples faces makes it all worth effort. Exciting things to come in 2025 and only one day after close I’m already looking forward to next season. We did our last two guided trips of the year today and we were thrown a curveball. Lake came up and there was so much flow and debris everything we thought we knew was out the window. Had to find new fish and try different tactics but were able to get both groups of clients on some nice fish. Thanks to both groups for being patient on our trips.

I was honored to have the Thomas’s aboard the boat today. Three of the guys caught their first ever spoonbill and one had been a time or two. Very nice gentlemen. Very inquisitive and very interested in everything about paddlefish. I love fishing with people who want to listen to what I know about Missouris greatest fish in my opinion. Thanks guys it was enjoyable. And thanks to my son Dillon for hanging in there with me this season. Couldn’t have done it without you buddy.

Armstrong boys. Back to fish with me for some bluecats this time. Like fishing with my own sons. Having a great time. Parker got a dandy close to 30 # I’d say. Lots of nice eater sized too.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful people that I’ve been acquainted with on the boat. A very generous client invited me to hunt turkeys this afternoon on his property and I was blessed to get a bird. This mountain hunting is a new world to me. Called him from one ridge top to the next and got a beautiful show at 30 yards. It’s awesome meeting so many people who enjoy Gods great outdoors.

Gosh it’s been busy and loving it. Haven’t taken time to post lately but it has still been on fire. Fish have definitely moved but we are moving with them. Four man limit with four of the fish between upper 80 # and lower 100 #. Running down the big gals. Thanks Conner, Parker, Trevor , and Matt. I will never forget doubling up on those two one at over a hundred and a solid 60 # fish at the same time. Chaos on the Goodlife Guide Service boat once again. It was a blast.

If you want to talk about an exciting way to troll for spoonbill this is something we recently started. We run our Garmin livescope on trolling motor and drop it in while trolling under power of the outboard. While I’m running boat my deckhand scans forward and side to side up to 70 feet out and I lock on and run them down. It gives me the time to make adjustments and center the lines up. Just thought I’d share if anyone wants to try it.

The Harris’s had round two and it was on fire. 4 dandy’s real quick. Then it was Carmen and her 5 year old son Randal’s turn. 8 fish in all today in just a few hours. Look at the smile on Randal’s face. He really put the heat to that 60 # spoony! I think I’ve got a fishing buddy!!!👍👍👍
