A very rare photo here! Many look at Ravine Flyer II and ask, "How were you allowed to build a roller coaster across a road." The answer dates back about a century ago when Peninsula Drive was constructed after the original Ravine Flyer had already been built!

The original Ravine Flyer (1922-1938) predates public access to Presque Isle State Park as we know it today. The only easy way to get a major road to the peninsula at the time was through Waldameer's land and under the existing roller coaster! Fast-forward to the 2000s, the original agreement from the 1920s allowing a roller coaster to span Peninsula Drive made way for Ravine Flyer II to be built several decades later.
