Shark fishing has been on point. The Da-lao’s celebrated their wedding anniversary vacation with a spontaneous shark fishing trip. They called us a noon and were out shark fishing by 4pm having a great time.

First of 4 FWC Atlantic EFP trips in the books. Solid day. We kept the first 36 red snapper that came over the rail. Fished about 10 spots at diffrent depths looking for other species. We released one 30lb gag grouper and 11 cobia between 33 and 35 inches long and some silky sharks.

Our average came up big. Probably a 12lb average for 36 fish that shows we have mature fish and plenty of them.

Our day did not reflect normal depredation we usually experience. We pulled 1 snapper out of a goliaths mouth and we had 1 cobia ran into the gear to avoid a shark that may or may not have got him. Usually depredation is much higher.

Great day and glad to get a lucky draw and be selected.

4 private charter trips available @ $4500 a trip to be able to keep up to 36 red snapper plus whatever else that is in normal regulations that is caught.

Your group can consist of up to 5 anglers. Even if it is less we can still keep 36 red snapper. We need to schedule these trips October 10th and before so we have back up days. We have to use all 4 trips before the end of October.

Here’s the skinny. We were lucky enough to be 1 of 4 charter boats on the East Coast to be randomly selected for a research program being done by the FWC. We have taken the courses and checked the boxes to be able to participate in this unique opportunity.

In a nutshell the study is to see what it takes to get recreational anglers to be happy with their bottom catch and move on to pelagic species or go home. 36 red snapper is a control number.

Obviously we know and I think the FWC knows that nobody is asking for that amount. Most of us would be happy keeping 1 or 2 red snapper per person and moving on to trolling. The problem is in culling or what they call high grading. Throwing back smaller fish to be able to catch larger fish. Also the problem is in the number of red snapper being caught while targeting other bottom species. How do we resolve the snapper bycatch problem?

On our trips we will be following the instructions and cooperating with the observer, camera and biologist to perfection, along with filling out the paper work.

We will handle all of this. All you and your group has to do is fish and have a great time. At the end of the day you will have a catch like the golden days and it will be epic.

We will take the first 36 red snapper that come over the rail and depending on time we will troll the rest of the day or go home. we will fish areas with big baits that hold other species such as amberjacks, scamp grouper & red grouper and traditionally larger red snapper in a effort to capitalize the most of this opportunity for the charter.

The price is steep but this is limited opportunity and will be a long but exciting day for us. We are in the business to show people a great time and to do an awesome job but we also want to make money so we will take the opportunity to use our luck to turn a profit.

Steady catching giant tiger sharks, lemon sharks, hammerhead sharks and the occasional bull shark or sandbar shark along Cocoa Beach right now. We are catching them in 5 to 30 ft of water. Right now your odds at a fatal attack are higher than normal. The chances of getting bit while swimming at the beach is still low but these sharks are in tight feeding on all the puppy sharks that are feeding on the bait along the beach. The water is murky so your arm or leg resembles one of this small 2 to 3ft sharks. Captain Garren took these folks out for an evening shark fishing trip and they didn’t just catch one but 2 giant sawfish. It is very possible that 2 sawfish in one trip has never been done before out of Port Canaveral. The second sawfish was way bigger, probably 18ft tip to tip, 2 diffrent fish for 100%sure.
