On Friday, December 23rd, we lost our George Artz. He was the owner, creator and visionary of our iconic oceanfront establishment. It was started as a dream of his in the 70’s, and it’s because of him and his endless dedication, creativity, and hard work, that Coconuts on the Beach has turned into a world famous destination in the wonderful little town of Cocoa Beach, Fl. Many of the people who visit Coconuts on the regular are lifelong friends of George and his tight knit family whom he loved so dearly. His legacy will carry on through the hard work of his children and his dedicated employees, who were also like family to him. George was an incredibly special man, and if you were lucky enough to know him, well, you were lucky enough. Fly high, George, and rest easy. Thank you for all that you’ve accomplished! Services will be Saturday January 7th. Contact the friends and relatives for the details.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has added a brand-new star-studded chef demo and dinner event to the roster for Taste of Space.

The all-new event, Taste of Space: Celebrity Edition, features acclaimed chefs Rocco DiSpirito, Duff Goldman and Marc Murphy on the evening of November 4, 2022.

From Gateway to Gourmet

Taste of Space: Celebrity Edition will feature celebrity chefs DiSpirito, Goldman and Murphy demonstrating their cooking techniques alongside veteran astronauts Bruce Melnick, Scott Altman and Sandra Magnus, on the main floor of Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex, the newest attraction at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

While guests watch the demo, they can mingle among cutting-edge space exploration innovations.

Guests will be served samples of dishes, followed by the reveal of a cake designed by master baker Duff Goldman.

Between bites, astronauts will be available for photo opportunities. Tickets are $175 per person

Gourmands seeking a bit more flavor can take advantage of a very limited number of tickets available for an exclusive meal that will follow the chef demo.

The two-hour multi-course dinner will feature a menu designed by DiSpirito, Goldman and Murphy.

Personal visits to each table will be made by the celebrity chefs and astronauts in attendance.

Guests will have the chance to mingle and take photos with DiSpirito, Goldman and Murphy. Tickets are $499 per person and include both the chef demo and sit-down dinner events.

We are days away from the historic launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on August 29, 2022, with a 2-hour launch window opening at 08:33 am.

Please be aware of the 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓 traffic advisories. The heaviest traffic is expected between 5:00 am and 10:00 am on the day of the launch. In addition to the launch, there will also be FIVE cruise ships at Port Canaveral that morning, adding to the influx of people on our roadways. Please plan accordingly, here are some traffic tips leading up to this epic event, and check out the 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 FDOT Central Florida outbound post-launch traffic map:

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
• 𝐒𝐑 𝟓𝟐𝟖: Eastbound motorists on SR 528 will proceed eastbound to A1A south. Use SR 520 westbound as an alternate to SR 528. Westbound motorists on SR 528 will continue west on SR 528.

• 𝐔𝐒𝟏/𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭 (𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐬𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞): All motorists north of Harrison St will proceed northbound on US-1. All vehicles south of Harrison, proceed southbound on US-1.

• 𝐀𝟏𝐀 (𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡): NO LEFT TURN from northbound A1A to SR 520 westbound. 𝐍𝐎 𝐔-𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐑 𝟓𝟐𝟖 𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐋𝐕𝐃. Southbound should proceed to SR 404 (Pineda Causeway) to US 1 or I-95.

• Titusville Police advise motorists to slow down in launch viewing areas, especially on U.S. 1, State Road 406 along the A. Max Brewer Bridge, and all surrounding areas. All lanes on the A. Max Brewer Bridge will be closed immediately after launch for approximately 1 hour, allowing for pedestrian traffic to cross over safely.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀:
⚠️If you live or work in the north, central, and beachside areas, plan accordingly and stay off the roadways if possible to avoid traffic congestion. 🚘
⚠️If you must travel along these corridors, please plan for extra commute time to work and school.⏰
⚠️Consider running errands over the weekend before the launch to avoid traffic. 🏃‍♀️
⚠️ALWAYS watch for and yield to pedestrians/bicyclists crossing. There'll be heavy foot traffic, especially along US 1/A1A. 👀🚶🚴‍♀️
⚠️Obey ALL traffic laws. Do not run red lights, speed, or drive distracted. 🚦🛑📵
