So nice to finally get to fish again today. We apologize to all of our customers for not being able to go all week. The supply chain / work force in our area that supports these boats is severely lacking. There was a time when decent support was available. We apologize and look forward to getting in on this great fishing. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Half day fishing was great today. Bet we have a great catch tomorrow!

AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS TEXT IS A DIRECT LINK TO THE PAGE WHERE YOU CAN MAKE A COMMENT.

Here is the skinny to the best of my understanding. Everyone meaning recreational, for hire and commercial fisherman are absolutely fed up with all things red snapper when it comes to the South Atlantic.

A group of commercial fisherman / commercial fish house got together sued NMFS and won. The lawsuit was because they stated NMFS didn’t do enough to stop the recreational sector impact to end overfishing of red snapper.

I have no idea why they did this. Maybe they thought it would open up red snapper quota to commercial fisherman. Maybe it’s the same old struggle where commercial hates recreational and recreational hates commercial to distract us from paying attention to the real bad guy being poor fisheries management. Maybe it is something more sinister and strings are being pulled by those hell bent on taking away everyone’s fishing and hunting rights.

The reason you have to make comment and do it right now is because this one comes fast. This is what I think is called a Secretarial Amendment and from what I can gather it has to happen quick. Historically the only methods used that have been deemed successful to end over fishing is either limited entry, meaning limit who can even fish or large area closures and that means no one can fish.

We know the data is flawed, we know it is all a bunch of crap. I know everyone already feels defeated or what they say doesn’t matter but we have to flood the comment section to stop this.
Your comment can be as simple as… I think your stock assessment is flawed along with the data received on the amount of red snapper discards and the mortality rate. I highly disagree with limited entry or area closures.
