This is by far my favorite moment of the past year of guiding.
This was just a kid who was absolutely passionate about fishing!
From the moment we started out he was eager to learn how everything worked. He wanted to know why I did things a certain way, how I decided what baits to use, wanted to learn to cast different ways, and what heck were those poles with the funny looking reels for? He had seemingly endless questions about it all!
To him, it didnāt even matter if we caught a single fish (thankfully, we caught them good that day). He was just so happy to be there doing something he absolutely loved with me and his grandmother.
Watching someone so young be completely absorbed and excited about fishing brought back fond memories of my own childhood. Itās moments like these that I will always remember. Itās a great reminder of the joy and wonder we felt growing up fishing, and how important it is to pass it on to the generations to come.
